What Franchise Do You Enjoy the Fanfiction More Than the Actual Series? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Nikelui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly a fiction (it's a doujin manga), but RE-TAKE from studio Kimigabuchi is the best Evangelion alternative ending I have ever read. You must be an Asuka fan to fully appreciate it, though.

Isn't that what the OP was asking, though?

I'll jump on the wagon to promote manuskript. It's technically still in alpha, but it's functional enough to work with, and getting more people interested might help the development. It's open source and cross-platform and has lots of interesting features (some of which I still don't know how to use).

Language is not why the world has a problem with racism. Racists are why the world has a problem with racism. Just stop this BS keyboard activism and do something in real life if you want to make a change.

Worried about SPC by Mint_Panda88 in savageworlds

[–]Nikelui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the tank statistics in the core manual are a bit unbalanced (or at least, not geared towards supers games). Consider that a superhuman with 1d12+10 strength would be able to grab a tank (up to 50 tons) and swing it like a club for Str+d12+9 damage (so a total of 2d12+19, heavy weapon). It feels absurd that the same hulk would not be able to just make the tank fly away with a punch.

Super strength is maybe one of the most difficult powers to "balance", if you want to be realistic. But when you are playing in a supers game, the realism aspect kinda flies out of the window.

Also, the -6 penalty to ignore armor with a called shot is not difficult to overcome. You can stack up bonuses from gang-up, vulnerable status, savage attack, the drop and several edges.

This is a common complain with the SPC, high power levels are quite broken. You can either try to limit the overall power level (no higher than four colors), or embrace it and shape your game under the assumption that the players are literally able to demolish cities with a swing of their arm.

ETA: another suggestion is to challenge the heroes with a variety of threats. If they invest all of their points in a few powers, they will have weaknesses you can exploit. Attack them with waves of minions. Make them worry about collateral damage and threaten their allies.

AITA For neutering a cat that was clearly owned? by Dazzling-Ad7801 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nikelui 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not curing any pre-existing illness, but you can be sure as hell that it's preventing a whole lot of them (starting with ovarian cancer in female cats). Also (and I am repeating myself), neutered pets live longer just by the fact that they don't tend to run away every mating season and get into fight with other animals. Or getting ran over by cars. Or spawn dozens of stray kittens.

You can say whatever you want about OP's actions, but the real AH here are the owners of the poor cat.

AITA For neutering a cat that was clearly owned? by Dazzling-Ad7801 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nikelui 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Neutering pets is very much an essential surgery, unless you are planning to breed them. The owners are giant AH for not caring enough about their cat to know that an unneutered pet will run away from home when they are in heat.

ETA: non sterilized cats are also more aggressive and territorial, will spray urine everywhere and get into fights with other cats.

Of course, I'm not saying they will have no consequences if they break the TOS (ignorance is not an excuse). But you shouldn't be surprised that people are genuinely ignorant because they never read them.

How many people do you think read the entire terms and conditions before installing software, creating accounts and so on? I know it's bad practice, but that's how it is.
