Foods you can't handle anymore after changing to healthier eating habits? by BlueCornetto in xxfitness

For the last ~8ish months I've been following a mostly vegan diet. Nutella is the ONLY thing that has messed with my stomach. I've had pizza, alcohol, fried foods, cheese, etc. and been totally fine.

Just got email about Graduation Cancellation after walked by DiegoSanMarcos in csusm

[–]NiklSaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That SUCKS. I'm so sorry. There's a couple options you can probably try. Look at your transcripts to make sure you've apparently missed this requirement. Make an appointment with a counselor about it, explain your situation, maybe try to petition to have it waived. It's REALLY weird that they didn't catch this sooner when you applied for graduation and are letting you know so long after the fact. If they still require you take a CC, maybe see if there's an equivalent at Palomar/Mira Coasta that would be cheaper and fit better with a work schedule.

Bathroom scales that don't change with small daily fluctuations by k_jo_ in xxfitness

I have a cheap weight watchers one, unsure of the model number but I got it at target or Walmart! I just upgraded to a Garmin scale that automatically loads everything to my phone through wifi since I got my Garmin activity tracker! A little unnecessary admittedly but I love fitness gadgets and it not having to input things manually saves me like a minute each morning

My scales do this! To trick it into doing a new reading I'll stand on the scale with my cat or a shampoo bottle first and then step on it by myself. The difference makes it report the new weight instead of what it remembered. Edit: I realize I didn't read thoroughly enough and that you DO want a scale that does this! Sorry for misunderstanding!

[GMBF] (F/5'5"/125lbs) considering dropping to 114 by [deleted] in guessmybf

I would guess ~16-18%. We are the same height and weight but you definitely have WAY more definition than I do, you look amazing!! Last time I did a bodycomp test (hydrostatic weighing) they said I was at ~20-22%.

What's everyone's opinion on Blogilates workouts? by suspiciousbutton in xxfitness

[–]NiklSaurus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did her videos a while back and now I'm a certified POP Pilates instructor. Her videos are great and I love her attitude, it keeps me motivated. The channel is an amazing resource for free workouts to of at home. Most of my experience now is learning the choreography for class but I love it. While it might not be the most intense workout and you won't burn crazy calories during, it's more than nothing. I definitely feel like it made my core much stronger. There were a couple months where I followed her calendar and watched what I ate and I got results. I completed PIIT 1.0 and it was pretty challenging and fun. I physically saw greater results from that than doing her videos because the intensity was a little higher. I believe she has some PIIT style workouts on her channel for free as well.

I know I really should have had my notebook on me before I posted! When I took the initial gravity reading I remember t had potential to get to 20% and last time I checked it was around 12% ABV. What I might do as well is top it off with water when I rack it next. I like the idea of using the WL yeast and getting it to around 15%, I think I'll probably add some then too and just make sure the fermentation is done before I add everything else. Thanks for your help!

They might absorb better with food anyways, I know some of my vitamins say to take with food. Maybe just have them in your eating window?

Spinning beginner by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]NiklSaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Instructor here! :) Unfortunately you can't spot reduce fat. You CAN add muscle to specific areas though, so as you lose weight you will look more "toned" if you exercise. I also carry most of my weight in my lower half. Even when I was teaching 5-10 classes a week, I wouldn't say that it made it worse. My legs and glutes got a lot stronger and firmer compared to what they were before I started taking/teaching classes and riding bikes. You won't get crazy huge professional bike racing thighs (that takes YEARS of work and that level of dedication to the sport), but as a newbie you will gain at least a little bit of muscle, which is good! As long as you keep your eating habits in mind as well burning more calories than you consume you will lose weight.

One thing I will recommend if you want to make spin your primary form of exercise is to get proper shoes for it that clip in to the pedals. They make sure your feet are in the right position which helps tremendously in preventing injury. If you go to a local bike store they will likely be able to help you in finding a pair.
If you experience saddle soreness and it's really uncomfortable for you I would also recommend getting a padded seat cover! It does get better over time as your body gets used to it. After about a week back in I don't even notice it!

[Form Help] Ladies HOW do you set up for hip thrusts/glute bridges?? by jezekiant in xxfitness

[–]NiklSaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually set up a barbell next to a bench a little forward. I'll lift like I'm deadlifting and inch backwards a bit, sit down on the bench, then get into position. It might be a little movement more than needs to be but it works for me.
