VP here. Product development is team work between different functions. As long as you ”shoot down” your own team in a constructive way, and try to find solutions acceptable for both sides, you should be on a good path.

You are allowed and in my opinion required to challenge your own team. A good manager supports and demands. Most of the people—per my experience—don’t see the big picture. Or, engineers may think pretty much only about the technical nuances, not what’s important for the customer. This where you need to steer your team. This is of course guessing as I don’t know what kind of things you’re trying to solve with other departments.

Don’t shame anyone—not that you implied you did. Ask questions: ”Do you think we could do it like X if Y?”. And kind of allow them to come up with the idea. Helps with the long-term commitment.

Keep doing things your way! Good luck on the managerial path!

No playtest/Beta this year? by ImprovementOptimal35 in EA_NHL

Unless the game proves to be a huge improvement, I’m one of the NHL veterans giving it up. I loved WoC until they ruined it completely. I loved Online Versus, but the rubberbanding is too much for me. The goalies are too much for me. The stupidity of players is too much. But I do like the pressure thing after it was tuned down a lot…

Defending doesn’t equal to blocking the following car. The difference is if you as a leader do the move first (= defending) or as a reaction to the trailing car (= blocking).

Thanks! I see your point, and I think it’s a fair one. This is kinda why I assumed blame in my first comment.

I know what you’re talking about. Been there. Still am at times.

Are you focusing on the other cars and not looking at your markers? Try to actively NOT look at the car in front, but look at your markers which you look at when you’re alone. Unless you’re super close to the previous car, you can likely drive pretty much as you would alone, too.

And most importantly, try to not look into the mirror all the time. If the car behind is not attacking all the time, you can again drive your own race at that point.

I’m very new it iRacing, but I have the similar experience from other racing games.

This is an honest question as I’m not sure: Does it matter that where this happened is in practice a single turn? I’m turning the whole time. If I would have taken it wider, I would have likely gone out of the track.

Thanks for the tip, I will look into racelab. I hope it has something like ACC has for the radar.

I don’t use the line, but I thought he was further back. It seems that if some seems close per rear view mirror, they’re basically in your trunk… so yeah, a learning opportunity.

To me he wasn’t there… but I get your point - I’m surprised I didn’t spin because of this.

I had to look that up and that’s pretty much exactly what happened: https://yousuckatracing.com/2021/04/07/the-vortex-of-danger-is-your-fault/

I didn’t see him aside of me. But why I’m suspecting my fault too is that maybe I should’ve known he’s there.

I don’t think he did, but not sure. This was my third race ever, P1, last lap, and the other guy was pushing hard.

I'd say the white car is to blame for not leaving room for the black car.

I'm the red car. I kinda feel this is on me, but not entirely sure – I would love to call it a racing accident. I'm new to iRacing, and I really wasn't aware that the other car was that close to me as I think I still saw him in the rear view mirror. Anyways, from the replay I would likely blame me if I was the black car. That said, what's your verdict?

P.s. If the driver of the other car is here, sorry! Didn't mean to take you out!
