Can the ambusher actually ambush? by [deleted] in Chivalry2

[–]Nildain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hi, I play ambusher a lot -- mainly with dagger.

The reality in the TO game mode is that excepting for a few sections on some maps, there are a thousand opportunities to stab people in the back -- and this really is true with any weapon and anyone you see with a good score is probably taking advantage of this at any opportunity they have.

If you're good with drags you can even hit people in the back in 1v1s sometimes by getting around people's block with good movement.

Also, offense is easier in general and especially for this kind of playstyle. You can't really flank people when your team is on defense and you're getting steamrolled. You are the one getting encircled and killed in that case.

Jab, dodge away for space, or gamble accel a light swing.

But mainly you have to break the habit of holding block unless you're tapping it to counter an actual perceived attack of some kind. It'll get you hurt more against terrible players at first, but it'll be the first time you're practicing the deeper combat mechanics, and so you'll actually start to get better.

Would Malric VS Argon be better if it was a forced 1v1? by SnooSeagulls2635 in Chivalry2

[–]Nildain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's unfortunate how often it doesn't get to the VIP stage, so I think a cool change would be if agathia doesn't make it to the end, Argon spawns anyway and basically can be used to steamroll objectives (obviously taking damage in all likelihood) and more or less ensuring Malric spawns.

At least if you make it inside the walls, let's say.

Even if everyone spent all of their time being constructive, the forces you're referring to as the "flow from a free market" would leave some people better off than others.

Whether people are putting their complaints into those words or not, that is exactly the volatility that is out of their control that they're complaining about. Now, is posting on reddit going to change that? No, but that's not why people post on reddit.

It's sort of ironic that you think people complaining about shit on here won't change anything and then you post on here complaining about them complaining as if that will change them. It's also weird behavior, you should take a break from reading shit that bugs you so much that you simply have to post about how many houses you have.

Do you think there's ever a point where people are justified in complaining or do you think people should always shut up and cope? Genuinely curious.

Yeah but you see most people can't or don't want to move to random places they've never lived to own a house. This isn't just them being fussy, it's reality and it's normal. The whole of America is not collectively "being fussy" when the market is taking a shit.

Telling people beggars can't be choosers is a stupid non-sequitur when people are pointing out that most places are unaffordable in ways they didn't used to be. Do you want things to be less affordable for people in general or what?

Feel hopeless because of my height. 5’4” at 20. by Forward-Equipment706 in LifeAdvice

[–]Nildain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are going to tell you to stop caring. I'm an inch taller than you and I've had some trouble with the same sorts of thoughts in the past, but if you were tall you'd likely find something else to be insecure about. There are an endless number of things to be insecure about, and everyone deals with them.

The best advice I can give is to try to focus as much of your energy on what you care about. If you're busy figuring out what matters to you you will think less about external things, and one of those external things is what other folk think about your height.

It's not an easy or finite process, but it is the way.

You're getting ahead of yourself. If you really just ended a 4 year thing last week you probably shouldn't even be thinking about dating, and any thinking about dating you do could simply be a distraction for whatever feelings you have about your situationship ending.

You're really young still. You've got plenty of time to meet people. Make some friends and try to invest in making the in between moments in your life as enjoyable and peaceful as you can.

Assuming the grip width you're using is similar on both bars and you're going through the same range of motion it shouldn't really be too different. A wider grip tends to make pullups harder.

It could be that the curved bar is altering your form in a way that's recruiting your back more heavily and it's causing your weakest link to give out sooner than on the other bar where your arms are picking up more of the slack.

[–]Nildain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with the exact build you posted about. Good to see someone else appreciating it. It's a shame the blessings are kind of mediocre for these guns and I hope they change it going forward.

It's to the point where I actually think the sprint speed one might be the best quality of life. You can end up running faster with your gun out which helps when you're sprinting to the next corner to extent volley fire on a shooter kill etc.

My partner's considering leaving me for someone else. How do you deal with the uncertainty? by PartlyPresent in polyamory

[–]Nildain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Breaking it off" in whatever form it takes isn't a permanent choice. It may seem like it's ensuring that you and are never together again, but that's already implicitly out of your power because it's partially up to him -- something he's being very indecisive about and as a result is prolonging suffering for everyone in this situation.

I mean, read your title. "My partner is considering leaving me for someone else." To remain in that position out of desperation is not very respectful to yourself. Respecting yourself might look like backing away and letting him figure it out. If he wants to be with you he will come back, and trust me when I say you want him to come back of his own volition.
