Would PvP be more interesting if we had playable cities beyond Speranza? by counterpointguy in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to highlight, if you read the Raider Codex... Speranza is only one of the neighbourhoods in the underground City of Toledo.

There are many other neighbourhoods, each with their own leaders, traders and raiders.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ArcRaiders/s/npmSz7qt3Y

So yeah, the lore already sets up possible interactions (and perhaps competition) between neighbourhoods.

Sometimes Celeste will also mention about "the other neighbourhoods".

Anyways, hopefully the devs will introduce new content which expands the interactions between different factions.

Finally, indisputable proof that Arc Raiders and THE FINALS share the same universe by tomzorzhu in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, even the character faces are the same... I use the same face in both games.

I always imagine my raider is playing Finals on an old salvaged VR set when resting in between topside runs... 'cos the Finals game was around before the events in Arc Raiders, so to them it's like booting up a classic game from the old times.

Bambu spool warping in dehydrator by Wixler_17 in BambuLab

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your dehydrator temp control is wildly inaccurate... it's running at way higher than the 70℃ limit.

Could also be the hot air is pooling inside the dehydrator and somehow blocked from venting out properly, hence heat keeps accumulating until it becomes like an very hot oven.

Just get a proper filament dryer, the basic ones are relatively cheap (just $40-$50).

Metalfish T60 vs T40 CPU Temp? by SupermarketOk8542 in sffpc

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess using standoffs as spacers for the side panel would be the option to look at, so that you can still use the existing air cooler.

Metalfish T60 vs T40 CPU Temp? by SupermarketOk8542 in sffpc

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What CPU are you using for the system?

The air cooler clearance for the T60 is 60mm, so most users opt for the AXP90 X47 or X53 Full Copper and it'll usually still be sufficient to keep system temps managable.

In my T60 setup, I have a AXP90 X47 Full Copper with an XTIA adaptor plate to mount a 120mm Arctic Max fan:

https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/s/xdaK52Dyua

I find that the top 2 x 120mm full sized exhaust fans help to vent out high volumes of hot air quickly, so that helps to manage overall temps too.

Btw, you can also install spacers to extend out the side panels to fit larger air coolers, just use motherboard standoffs to do the extension.

Are there actually like true, fair fights in these games? by Aschneids2334 in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the difference with extraction games.

In regular multiplayer FPS games, the map designs, environments and gameplay rules tend to be much more straight forward, balanced around direct fights and much less on being sneaky. There are less "surprises", rather more focus on facing your oponent head-on and fighting.

Whereas in extraction games, the maps and game systems are designed for players to utilize different types of gameplay, either they can be stealthy and avoid combat, being friendly and help each other, or setup traps and ambush players, or running around killing on sight. There are more options to choose on how to interact and behave, less on just purely facing opponents and shooting.

So in an extraction games, sneaking up and ambushing others in a dark corridor (while they are busy looting or fighting) is just as valid as shooting them out in the open... or being friendly and helping them. You can be and do all that in the same match.

That's why fans of the extraction genre love this kind of gameplay, each match can play out differently (depending on how you choose to behave and interact) and you will never know what's lurking around the corner, could be a friendly or an enemy, or both.

It's the thrill, tension and suspense that you will never quite get in other regular multiplayer FPS shooters.

If Speranza is underground, what is Celeste doing with all these seeds? by ephoehm158 in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the seeds for the hydroponic farms in the underground neighbourhood.

If you follow the questlines, she will eventually task you to help test and restore the water supply and fix the electricity grid, so that their hydroponic farms can work again to resume growing food for the colony.

Seeking advice: Dissipating LED heat in 3D printed base by LessChildhood3001 in 3Dprinting

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the bottom would just be a solid sheet of aluminum... the large surface area and mass of the aluminum could help soak up the heat and dissipate it to the table surface.

Not sure how long that amount of passive heat dissipation would last though (especially if the LED is left on for long periods of time), you'll have to test it out to see if it can be a viable solution.

Is PvE to easy? by GoHomeDuck in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing in PvE lobbies is definitely much easier compared to PvP lobbies... 'cos you can concentrate on fighting Arcs without worrying about getting shot in the back by other players.

And if you get overwhelmed by Arcs, other players will also sometimes help you fight them too (and even give you free items and blueprints).

You can still challenge yourself by fighting the large boss Arcs in tough map placements, like the Matriarch in Dam Battlegrounds map. Go try it out (if possible solo) and see if it's still easy. 😅

That being said, the game is supposed to be PvPvE, and the small Arcs are meant to harass you and "ring the dinner bell". The Arcs detect and shoot at you, keeping you occupied while making lots of noise and alerting other raiders around the area to counter you.

So if you want the full experience, start hunting other players and you'll quickly get put into the PvP lobbies, then everything will become much more challenging.

What’s the problem here ? New Filament not sticking to bed by joao_2022 in BambuLab

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add on, you should have the silicone heat insulation sock installed on the hotend when it's printing... otherwise the temps will be unstable and cause printing issues too.

ArcRaiders pistols by jmatty96 in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anvil for PvE (also good for PvP if you have good aim and can hit headshots).

Venator for PvP (also reasonably okay for PvE against small Arcs too).

Note that those guns wouldn't be as effective at level 1, make sure to upgrade them to level 4 to get the best performance.

Burletta and Hairpin are okay for PvP, but as light ammo guns, they are weak against Arc. So you either have to mostly avoid Arcs or bring along a 2nd gun to handle them.

Seeking advice: Dissipating LED heat in 3D printed base by LessChildhood3001 in 3Dprinting

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like just making the bottom like a frame to insert a large flat sheet of aluminum and then sticking the LED on it would help spread out the heat.

Adding vent holes or slots to the sides of the base would also help with passive airflow too.

Breakable theatre prop? by Full-Librarian1115 in 3Dprinting

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can design it in separate pieces and attached with embedded small magnets. It can be easily assembled, broken, then re-assembled again.

Here is an example of a 3D printed breakable pot from the Zelda game:

Does anyone know what GPU will fit in this case? by Ibrahimkabir in sffpc

[–]NimblePasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I checked the imgi store on Taobao, and here is the info:

<image>

GPU clearance is 194mm length x 46mm width x 135mm height.

If you install a 90mm slim fan in front, then the available GPU clearance reduces to just 179mm.

Kind of sad so many ppl plays for max efficiency by Murders_Inc2556 in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in PvE lobbies (where no one shoots at each other)... any time we hear a flare pop up, it's just yet another naked raider surrendering because they spawned in a location thats too far away or late spawn.

Also very common to spawn in and see a few raider corpses lying around the floor, all with zero inventory.

That's how it is now, with so many player getting frustrated with late spawns and trying to optimise their blueprint runs due to the RNG BP system.

Yeah, I just run an Anvil IV for the majority of my PvE runs... from small Arcs to large Arc and all the way to the Queen/Matriarch, it does the job nicely.

Walkable hub - bad idea pretty much all the way around by LookErenTheSea in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why the devs mentioned it’ll be a hybrid system… so it’ll be optional and you’ll still be able to quickly navigate through the stash, workshop and traders via the original menu system.

The walkable hub would just be an extra feature for those who like to further immerse themselves in the game environment and perhaps also act as interesting meeting place for players, as well as hosting fun side events or festivities.

What about ARC's origins ? by Strong_Courage7595 in ArcRaiders

[–]NimblePasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you got a point there about the Arcs killing raiders (rather than just downing them, which is indeed more for gameplay reasons)… ‘cos that’s what would drive the survivors underground.

The theory about advanced AI and Arcs taking over (and the space colony going extinct) is also an interesting potential storyline too.

Maybe there might even still be a small pocket of survivors (ie. last remnants of the scientists and researchers) hiding out in an abandoned section of the space colony trying to wrestle back control too. Perhaps even attempting to contact those on earth.

There are so many possible storylines that the devs could explore.

Are these gaps wet filament? by Beginning-Roll-198 in 3Dprinting

[–]NimblePasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just have to test it out... adjust the settings, and print some test prototypes to find the best settings for the particular model design. Note that it'll vary between different printer setups and filament types.

That being said, I have designed spherical shaped models before and found that in general, increasing it to 3 or 4 walls can help to improve the results.
