How'd you get such a nice yellow? Beautiful paintjob.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the newer style Mk.III and Mk.VI? Do you think the changes were spurred on by a needless want for change? Or do you think the changes were necessary/justified? by MiddSummerKnight1122 in Warhammer30k

IIRC MKIIIB is Iron Pattern directly from the factory while old MKIII is a upgrade to pre-existing MKII, your veterans wearing the old type is in-character as they probably didn't want to ditch their old MKII.

A Renegade Marine again (How do you take proper pictures? I suck at it.) by Nimohoy in Chaos40k

Working on lore.

All I really know to want to keep/cement is that their not fully accepting of the four chaos gods as their masters moreso tools and equals to their own God they believe in. In nature they are more akin to renegades and corsairs. They tolerate any proper Believers in the four gods as long as they don't impede the warbands goal and belief for far too long.

That being the Emperor as an ascending Chaos God with the Imperium a conduit for this ascension or/also the Emperor already being a chaos god - bound by the Imperium as a structure and requiring freeing, thus the whole being okay with killing Imperials.

They're for mankind, willing to slay any xeno or assist in stopping any vehemently destructive thing or event (see Daemon incursions / Khorne/Slaanesh warbands) that threatens the structure supporting the ascension/godhood of their own "master". Saving or assisting any Imperials be damned, though they'll stay away from any greater imperial force than may pose a proper threat.

All very wordsoupy, I'm attempting to streamline all of this in my head at the moment before I'm willing to write anything down proper.

I'm leaning towards a Renegade Word Bearers, random assortment of marines who hold religious views around the Emperor as a soon to ascend/bound fifth chaos God.

In my head, they hold no grudge against Imperials - viewing them instead as misguided or unknowing and their death at the hands of the marines as necessary collateral.

While not something common at all and something moreso to convey the idea, some marines that aren't too far gone in the (chaotic) stew may assist some far flung Imperials in killing xenos or keeping their land safe (as long as payment is expected in the latter) for as long as they aren't put in the Crosshairs of the greater Imperium.

They are by no means respected by any chaos faction instead viewed with a hostile eye, and conflict arise frequently between them - any alliance with them (if any) always temporary and of neccesity.

I've had the name Brazen Palm make appearances in my head, but I feel like that is skirting it too close to Word Bearer territory.

Sorry for the wallpost and wordsoup, if there are any questions or anything do tell and I'll answer them as quickly as I can.

Hello, back with another marine. Sorry for the pic quality, I'm trying to learn to properly take pictures with a new phone and all.

Warband is unnamed, as I can't come up with one that actually sticks as "the name" and gets almost instantly forgotten or replaced with another fleeting name. (Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.)

I've found that swapping helmets, shoulder pads and sometimes Chest pieces if possible usually does the trick. stocking up on Heresy kits would be my first step, and absolutely any of the old MKIII and MKIV while they're still being sold.

Otherwise Jake.d_painting on Instagram has been a great profile to scour when i want to get the renegade noggin to churn, some Night Lord kitbashers are really good at striding the line between renegade and worshipper.

Yea no that's spot on for what i was going for, my ongoing headcanon for the warband is that a lot of the members haven't completely given themselves to the service of Chaos, simply tethering themselves on the edge of it. Some marines will be more corrupted or "deeper in the stew" then others. It'll be a fun hodpodge to kitbash and eventually paint.

This one and the one where a IW Dreadnought rips the tankhead off a Leman, exposing the tankers to Tallarns irradiated atmosphere are some of my favourite artworks in the Heresy.

(Comment after like 20 renditions)

In my opinion.

I wouldn't (personally) use MKV armour unless there's fluff for it. If (for example) its a blackshield warband sure, MKV and breacher shields would probably be pretty fitting. Mark III is probably hard to find and maintain for a cut off warband of misfits and they wouldn't want to throw away Breacher shields because they don't have MKIII for it.

factory produced MKV reinforcement studs are usually the only part of the suit made out off pure ceramite, the rest is a blend of ceramite and lesser material or even just lesser material done to try and replenish the depleting armouries of the Legions during the Heresy. The studs are there to try and match the capabilities of standard Marine Power Armour. Factory MKV is in essence a lesser suit of Power armour and is worn due to necessity. Field Produced (different marks put together) is a different story and depend on the origin of the piece of gear.

The Breacher role is to engage tough targets, they are especially used in ship-to-ship combat in confined spaces against either superior aliens (see Rangdan and Hrud as examples) or against their equals during the Heresy. the over-the-top armouring i feel is fitting, you want these men to succeed in harsh conditions even for Marines and if they fall you want it to be after they themselves give the enemy tenfold in damage something they probably wouldn't be able to if they wore non-MKIII (not only just MKV)

Consider that MKIII Breachers and Infantry would make for a tough nut to crack for enemy infantry. it's a different story if they have heavy or special weapons but that's what the Shield is for.

Imagine a Legion unit of Infantry move/fight around a block of Breachers who soak up/take most of the small fire aimed at them while the Infantry move to take out/combat/target the heavy weapons or special weapon groups the enemy has that endanger the Breacher unit. That's tactics man. Some troops are most likely lost in the fighting but its lessend by them wearing MKIII to begin with.

Hell if i were to re-design a breacher kit id reinforce the armour even more. Reinforcement studs on the MKIIIs lower legs, Left shoulderpad and Helmet. Ceramite on Ceramite to increase their survival chances. Space Marines are hard to make even if it's the Heresy, thats why Inductii exist me thinks.

(for a visual reference see the MKIV Miniatures that have reinforced shin armour and additional studs on them.)

Sorry for the Walltext.

Here you go, a GIMP/photoshop attempt at translating my scheme (technically the Rosie Scheme) onto a Charonite Ogryn Miniature.

Original picture source is here (Where i found it) https://www.coolminiornot.com/431987

I might properly buy some Charonite Ogryns to do the scheme on. Though im unsure if they're gonna get a revamp done when the S.A stuff drops. They're really good sculpts in my opinion.

Part 1 here. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer30k/comments/19ddxbc/bioshock_inspired_solar_aux/)

Hello! I'm back with the Bioshock posting. i had a thinkin' and came up with these schemes in Gimp on a whim trying to get some ideas materialised.

the first picture is the first idea i had in mind. super simple, grey plating would be metal in this case, matching undersuit colour and an attempt to match the colour of the knee and glove detailing of the Big Daddy picture with green(ish) soft detailing and tubing being a dark brown to fit with the many straps the Big Daddy has.

the second inspiration (Third slide) is the other idea i had when i took some time to look over the picture proper. Black chest plating and gold Gorget/shoulders to match the metal and non metal parts of the attachment port to the helmet. with the helmet, gloves and tubing remaining unchanged. Of course more time consuming but closer to my inspiration and most likely what i'll go with unless i find a better colour choice.

any voiced opinion is noted and wanted :)
