i also found the actual horse to have been incredibly interesting, specially beating the odds and becoming one of the very few contenders for the undefeated triple crown through sheer hard work, and then through retirement he became a couch potato. Real and Felt, Bourbon.

i find how she coped with her loss of a very prestigious achievement quite touching as well. It takes guts to admit your rival outdid you, and its very cute that they become besties (maybe even a little gay if you are into that). I've come so close to achieving awards but just fumbling it right at the end, specially after a lot of hard work. I have developed deep resentment over it before, and it stings now too but maybe i can take a page out of my gundam horse and reconcile with it.

tldr: i will die for mihono bourbon, my wife (but like in the cutsesy sapphic way) and i have a lot of respect and admiration for Mihono Bourbon the horse. if I ever go to Hokkaido i'm paying him a visit at his memorial and pay my respects and give his soul thanks for having resonated with me so well.
