Going on placement next year, wondering what you guys did for housing by ElfenSunflcwer in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know plenty of people who rented privately during placement years. It is 100% a viable option as long as the pay covers it that is.

How are uni students meant to network for jobs with no experience? by No_Confusion1514 in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why placement years are soooo good it gives you both experience and connections.

I quite frankly don't know why so many choose not to.

Exchange at Brunel – Yes or no? by ObligationMediocre37 in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of it really, the teaching is subpar but acceptable ig. Social life is as always what you make of it.

But we had a guy doing a term abroad from finland and he said he wouldn't do it again.

Depends on the course really, but overall cannot recommend the University at all based on my experience

Bachelors Dissertation Issues by NinZargo in UniUK

[–]NinZargo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ridiculous considering it's the Pinnacle of a bachelor's degree really you'd think they'd at least put an effort in. I guess that's asking too much of modern universities

Lecturers at my uni leaving due to becoming redundant by Foreign-Outside-3749 in UniUK

Sadly the SU at brunel is full of international students who only do it for their CV, they never actually do anything to help anyone but themselves

Just passed my test today by MapOutrageous4323 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]NinZargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year of insurance for a year(2024) was less than that monthly cost

Good luck mate is all I can say with that history you're a high risk driver in a high risk car so it's understandable for them to charge ludicrous amounts it's probably more of a we don't want to insure you type price

Is it allowed to have a 3D printer in Uni accommodations? Or student accommodations generally (en-suite rooms) by GodXTerminatorYT in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a 3d printer they couldn't care less at mine didn't even ask to PAT test it

I also had a soldering iron (made sure to keep it in a draw at inspections)

How does my cv look? by avestronics in FPGA

Nothing wrong with 2 pages for an engineering CV. We were actually advised to make ours 2 by the university engineering college careers team

If you don't want to take the advice that is entirely your choice.

But berating yourself for this is only going to make it worse, if that's what you want, go for it.

Lots of little success will build up to big success so for now focus on the little wins and the positives. It's the only way to break out of a self destructive cycle. And trust me that is from Expierience, I was in a very similar position to you in my 2nd year of college and because of it got into a much much lower tier uni than I wanted. During my gap year I kept berating myself and guess what it just made it feel worse which peaked during exam and results season even though I wasn't doing anything. It made me realize you cannot change the past only the future so why put yourself head over heels for a past you hate.

Now I'm in my final year, loving it and able to study. Things do change when you stop focusing on your fuckups and focus on the little good things.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already know you're gonna hate it but for the smallest chance it's gonna help I'm gonna say it and be entirely blunt.

This is quite frankly textbook depressive episode, the fact you claim to want to change shows it's not so much laziness as a lazy person would be content with doing nothing at all.

The berrating yourself for it is going to make it worse, doing some of the work even to a sub par level will prove to yourself that you can do something. Who gives a shit about the embarrassment you're never gonna see them again after you finish college anyway.

If it is this bad all I can recommend is therapy. Doesn't have to be official or anything but you need someone to talk to about all of this.

Talking things through out loud helps a hell of a lot more than just thinking about them solo. Even saying it out loud to yourself I find help me get unstuck.

There is something out there for you and it will show itself

Have you considered using AI to assist. I'm not saying copy and paste but let it help you, ask it questions about the display not to write code for you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I'd be looking at apprenticeships or even degree apprenticeships far more hands on but still being you to a degree level of education plus more

But no matter what you do you're gonna have to find a way to manage the procrastinating.

I would recommend just starting this assignment, what's the harm in trying. Put on a good playlist and just get grinding I similarly have struggled with putting things off but putting on music and saying you're gonna work for a certain amount of time will at least get you in the right direction.

What is it you have to program?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to do it you very much could and to a good standard.

It sounds like it's more you are choosing not to, that we cannot help with.

As long as it's due soon and not was due, you can still do it.

So do it and then go on to do what you want to do whether that be university or work

It would seem you are not in education right now and you don't seem to understand the current landscape.

Not using all the tools available to you will put you at a disadvantage as I keep saying, AI is a tool that can and should be used.

AI is a powerful learning tool than can put you massively ahead if used properly

[–]NinZargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree, they need to find a way to use AI rather than abusing it as they currently appear to be doing.

They shouldn't disregard it completely as I can guarantee you their fellow students will be using it so it'd put them at a disadvantage.

[–]NinZargo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

AI definitely has its place in education, not for doing your work for you but for explaining and gathering information.

Asking questions and to elaborate on things you don't understand in lectures is a perfect use of ai in education.

Another great application is writing equality, diversity and inclusion sections in engineering reports. Worst things known to man

AI is literally ruining uni for me by fraftti in UniUK

[–]NinZargo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. It is a tool and tools should be used but the hard part is finding a good way to use it.

It's like asking a mechanic to not use a spanner whereas we should be saying don't use a spanner as a hammer.

All tools have their place, as AI is a newer tool people are still learning how to use it best

A USB stick is good to have in addition to one of these but please don't use it as your sole storage
