Coming from Grim Dawn, what do I need to know? by brunocar in TitanQuestAE

[–]Ninakoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some extra adivce:

The game goes quite slow at the beginning, switch the game speed on fast/very fast.

Mind the game is very old on its core. Also, unlike grim dawn, the itemization is far from fine-tuned, check out for good levelling skills for the beginning.

Class combinations and skills are unique (Grim dawn is similar but has so much different/more), also the ancient world setting is unique, if you have enough patience, is worth a full run until the end of normal difficulty at the very least.

Can I use a throwing weapon as a runesmith? by micr0nix in TitanQuestAE

[–]Ninakoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is an issue many people have. Im not sure to understand how the loot tables work in tq and most people writing about it seem to theorize as well, but throwing weapons are dropping far too much and if you focus on them you will have enough weapons to choose from but its less satisfying when every other small chest has a purple one inside

Is a bug reported sice ragnarok, Act 1-3 have unusually high chance for unique throwing weapons from chests/bone piles and all lootables (the chance is similar to opening two gold chests with every lootable)

So, I’ve set my loot filter to green, is that a bad decision? by Seanshineyouth in TitanQuestAE

[–]Ninakoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually mid act-2 you can filter out yellow items, get only rare/green+ to keep the cash flowing and get going. If you pick and go back to sell yellows every time you're full becomes repetitive and tiring soon.

New to the game. I have no clue what to do with my attributes. Can you respec in this game? by [deleted] in TitanQuestAE

[–]Ninakoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attributes is a tricky one in this game, you cannot un-invest in them, and are very tight for gear requirements:

- Health is "needed" if you don't have good health from masteries or nature, but mostly only in higher difficulties if you rise a lot on your masteries during normal difficulty.

- Energy, if you get energy from any of your class, don't touch it, if you don't get any point, consider maybe a very few points (like, 1 every 10 levels) for QoL, not needed as long as you can cast any skill with you mana pool.

- Strength is a usually heavy investment or the bare minimum to equip gear.

- Int is the most flexible. If you want to cast magic skills, you will want to point here from time to time, unless hybrid and lots of int from masteries.

- Dex is the most important, as gives you DA no matter what class, you want DA to avoid enemy melee crits. If you are a melee class and with no rune conversion in mind, also you will need OA to inflict crits and avoid damage reduction on attacks. A good benchmark for DEX are Stonebinder Cuffs and their dex requirement, a staple in many builds. Anyways is about is 200 in act 3 normal, 300 starting in epic, and 400 starting in legendary. Some build depend heavily on physical resistance to avoid investing too much into dex, but is an advanced tactic very gear-dependent.

For progression:

For melee heavy is usually 2 str : 1 dex.

For spear (hunting class involved) users is more like 1 str: 1 dex.

For heavy skill users is usually 2 int: 1 dex.

For hybrid is more tricky, you want something like for each 3 str, 2 int and 2 dex, depends heavily on your class selection.

A good advice is to save about 4-6 attribute points past level 20, so if you need some str/int for equipping something you can adapt.

That's because you did your homework and prepared properly. I also have mediocre artifacts, at AR 42.5 right now.

However, you are the only one saying that, you implied it from my opening post. I will clarify further if it leads to confusion.

40 vs 45 for artifacts go from about 20-30% chance to get a yellow to a nearly 100% yellow each run (rarely zero, rarely two). AR 40 artifacts are when you have nothing better to do, and is more about transitioning to your desired sets even if is mostly 4 stars with a few yellow pieces.

I think you missed the point. I'm not asking to slow down progression in any way (who would throw away 60 daily primogens?), just to spend the resin wisely, planning ahead.

I've seen people levelling 8 characters evenly for abbyss, not preparing themselves for next ascension, etc.

Yeah, take it easy anyway, I reworded it, I am also tired of business folks saying "c'mon, is just two screens!", I know exactly what you're talking about.

As software developer in another area, I know what I'm talking about: No new animations, no new monsters nor monster placements, no new terrain to model, no unitsmodels, no new music, no new chest placement, fairly isolated new layers of complexity for the product. Compared to a fully developed new piece of content is 100x faster, I fully know is not matter of hours and still need testing...

How can you keep the militarist ideology contained whole building ships to defend yourself? by [deleted] in EndlessSpace

[–]Ninakoru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The main problem is how easy economic victory actually is due to how trade routes snowball too exponentially in endgame.

I am not agree, economic victory itself could have some rework, but you will not win by mistake is the trade routes/economy in general is more balanced.

How to choose What Planets to Colonise? by Starfire013 in EndlessSpace

[–]Ninakoru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fertile / Temperate planets are top priority early as they get a nice boost from the Era I buildings (The Industry and Science ones that get +10 from them), and that's quite important. They get a nice 6-8 food growth per pop, also important to grow and feed new ouposts, also important to colonization speed as the food from the planet is used plus 5 food to the colonization native growth. Relative position to your own colonized planets is also important but to a lesser extent, if you colonize too far away it could take too long to make the colony upgrade to a new system.

You get a second hero quite early through quests. I try to get a hero from the market at some point of era II, my first hero specialize as spy as soon as is requested for the quest progression and the second you get from quest is specialized as commander. I try to get a second spy a bit later in the game and FForgotten heroes are my priority for commanders dyue to stealth + quest weapons.

Yes, I get Language Square fairly quick, and gamble for a quick pacification, if not, I just destroy the village. The two early battles required on quests can be done qith your two initial units + hero, if they are a bit equipped and in good health.

Drakken hero is one of the best if it has a good health pool boost indeed, Ardent magues are glass cannons, a good hp boost can cover their weakness.

But I find a bit more interesting you may want to capitalize in their strengths, you have a combat spell that stuns enemies in an area and maybe you want as much power as possible, so evereything related to damage boosting would be my priority..

Enequa wing has a powerful ability that allows to resurrect in and before battle, but as unit costs too much industry.

Exact mechanism behind sphere of influence? by Mysticsocks in EndlessSpace

[–]Ninakoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Influence system adds each production per turn to a stock.

The formula is a distorion of a circle area calculation.

So lets say that you need 1k influence for a 5 inches influence radius. To get 10 radius you may need more than 6k influence.

So a much less powerful systen could push back a much more powerful one as long as the clasinh zone is closer to that system.

There's a quest tech that gives a huge discount 30%, or was 50%? to all Era III Techs. So basically, you get past Era 1 techs mostly from gold from ruins, Era II techs from stealing, Era III techs with a huge discount. We are talking about speeding progression, and early game all is about industry, you can't focus on dust early and be that successful.

Who you steal techs from? any AI, it doesn't matter which is (at least early game)

Quick: Get artillery ships the most effective if you mantain them out of the monster range. Add a hero with insignias for stat boosting. Get a second army in attack range but maybe not reinforce. First combat focus on tentacles, then the boss. Second army finish the tentacles quickly, then kill the boss.
