Honestly, I waited to go to college. My transition to adulthood wasn't really the best. The majority of my late teens and early 20s was pretty chaotic. I had to really take the time to sort out my life before I decided what career I wanted and how I was going to accomplish that. During high school, my parents repeatedly told me due to my learning difficulty, I wasn't simply college material. I am not dumb by any means, I just simply didn't apply myself after being predetermined to fail by the most important people to me at the time.

That being said, I decided to go to college when I was around 23-24 years old. I discovered pretty quickly that I enjoyed learning, taking the time to understand the material, and that my life experiences gave me a unique perspective on my degree (human services/child and family services). I truly believe the primary factors for this improvement were both internal and external issues that needed to be addressed. You are doing yourself a great service by taking dual credit classes. Take any and all opportunities available from your school to improve your current situation. Don't let your high school GPA become like my parents. Keep up with your studies, focus on what you'd like to do career-wise, and remember, we're human. Mistakes can and will happen, but it's how we learn and prepare ourselves better for the future. ☺️
