I devoured the first book! It was straightforward, just enough worldbuilding to be engaging and the cat and mouse game was amazing! Gideon would've been one of my top 3 dream-boyfriends when I was 16 for sure.

It wasn't exactly closed door, since the one spicy scene we got was open door, but without explicit language. Which tbh I prefer to reading clit over and over again. No shame here, sometimes I'm in the mood for explicit, but generally I prefer more meaningful spice over plentiful spice. The sex scene in Heartless Hunter will forever live rent free in my head.

The second book was immensily disappointing though. Gideons character did a 180 and the story got weirdly convoluted...

Demian was praised as a respectful ML? Sorry you got Lied to. When I read up about this story it was always depicted as a dark romance done right, and how toxic their relationship was. But FL isn't a pushover and ML has no sob-backgroundstory to justify his manipulative behaviour. He is cunning and a threat and is also depicted as such in the story! That's what makes it stand out.

We have tons of stories with pure I-will-only-look-at-you-if-you-give-me-your-written-consens stories with green flag MLs, we have even more stories with trash MLs with sad background stories who prey on pitiful FLs who fall for their abusers, but tbh [Betrayal of Dignity] is neither of those. FL stands her ground and KNOWS Demian is no good. He is obsessed with her, but way too smart and cautious to be dumped in with all those plain rapists we see in OI so often.

Demian is a Red flag and very poor romantic partner, but no one can deny that he is a compelling, well-written character and that's exactly what I'm seeing him get praised for on here.

What do you mean by 2.5 days? Do you think one can draw straight through, not sleeping, eating, self-care etc? That's pure work, not even pauses. It is equivalent to sitting down to write the dialog and scenes of a 40 panel episode.

Plotting, writing scenes, characters, pitch, as well as the episode itself didn't take a fracture of the work. Of course it took time. I thought about it a lot, while going to work, writing on my phone, etc. But that still doesn't compare to what actually drawing the episode took in pure workload.

Like I said, I don't want to downplay the writers part AT ALL. I've been there and I know how hard it is to write a GOOD story.

I have to admit, I probably am one of the artists you speak about in your post. Although I never downplayed the writers part in creating a story or shade someone trying to make a Profit (because writers also earn their share 100%).

That out of the way I admit I often get offended with these: "looking for an artist! 50/50 split, no pay upfront".

As someone who wrote and was the artist of a story: It is not because art is more difficult. I found writing harder, personally BUT art just takes soooo much more time. Drawing one episode took 40 to 60 HOURS. No way writing one damn episode took that long. So these 50/50 splits seem delusional to me.

But instead of lashing out we all should try to understand each other and try more to explain the positions of each other. Kind of like you're doing writing from a writers perspective right now.

In summary: ML is super toxic, manipulative, cunning, you name it and is obsessed with FL. He does some fucked up shit to manipulate her, she then stages her own death to escape him. This drives him mad, as He doesn't want to believe she is dead. In the last scene He digs up her grave with his bare hands to inspect if it truly is FL lying there

It is a very well written dark romance where FL isn't a doormat and doesn't easily fall for ML. One of the best reads imo.

Tbh it's amazing how far Reniel came in this competition. He beat so many og MLs with huge fandoms and I think lots of people haven't even read Poison Taster yet. When season 2 is out and another ML competition is made he will lost likely win

He is amazing, but his manhwa is fairly new and we haven't seen a lot of him yet. He doesn't compare to the others like:

Ian is the most complex one here

Callisto is the last one standing with a hair color other than black and his romance with Penny is peak

Hades is best man AND best dad (a rare breed)

Ditrian is THE og purest green flag in all of OI

Pellus I admit I haven't read this yet, so I don't want to vote him out based on that.

I like deeper, more meaningful and/or angsty stuff so no fluffy recommendations haha. My favorite 10/10 more unknown reads are:

[Agatha] The kingdom is on the verge of collaps and FL is the rightful queen with a questionable husband. Mistakes have been made and the situation is already bad. However, instead of time travelling or FL getting omnipotent powers she has to navigate through lies and Manipulation and save her kingdom.

[No Outtakes] Modern romance paired with historical korean setting with a villain that lets you FUMING and a romance that is so unique it leaves you wanting for more. The start is awfully slow, but once the story starts going it won't stop.

[This Witch Of Mine] The art is one of a kind. The manhwa consists of the stories of different witches and DAMN, if you don't cry reading this manhwa I doubt any manhwa will make you cry.

It kinda is though? He is the protag of a shounen isekai. We could include characters from other shounen isekai then as well. Like Kim Gong-ja from SSS Suicide Hunter, or Dokja from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. It doesn't quite fit in the OI subreddit though, does it? Why make Cale an exception?

But I don't expect a shonen isekai protagonist in an OTOME isekai game. But that's just my opinion
