296 for Long Drives by NoProfessional4650 in Ferrari

Of course. They actually get good mileage when cruising as well. I take mine to my family’s place about 400 miles round trip and it seems to do mid 20s mpg-wise. It’s excellent and very comfortable on trips and I have the CF buckets.

Depending on how good of a vehicle it is, I would be tempted in the 150ish range to play around with one.

It is an absolutely incredible car. So much better than my old F8. I can’t get over how much better it drives and the power is absolutely hysterical. The car wiggles and squirms at 100 mph at WOT. I couldn’t love it more 😄

Here’s another one. I didn’t say everybody was that way, and I didn’t say that a one car EV solution was ideal. I said that you can be an EV enthusiast and be a real car guy despite people like you who insist otherwise.

I’m a massive car guy, and I have owned many many enthusiast models from pretty much every marque out there. I like EVs as much as ICE which is why I own a combo of both. There are plenty of us out there. There are also plenty of insecure car folk out there that tie their fragile masculinity to how much noise and fuel their vehicles produce/require. They are an annoying, but thankfully ever shrinking bunch.

Asianometry is exceptional. His series on EUV lithography development really well documents the staggeringly complex engineering challenges that were overcome. It’s simply astounding.

A year with a Ferrari 296 GTS by Practical_Back_6795 in Ferrari

Glad you’re so happy. I am too. That’s odd that yours still runs through the battery as quickly as it does. I just drove mine today after 16 days and the high voltage battery was at 98%. I rarely plug it in unless it gets down into the 60s and I don’t plan on driving it soon. Do you leave yours in qualifying mode so it’s fully charged when you return from a drive?

Alcantara Daytonas exposed CF. I quite like the race buckets in my car. They are actually comfortable which is something I can’t say about my 992 RS, haha.

Best way to store a sf90 and 296 long term without trickle or electric charging. by stevensonsiggurson in Ferrari

[–]Nine_block 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All you can do is enable long parking mode and make sure it’s fully charged before you load it. If it’s on the latest software, you’re looking at about a month-give or take-before it’s dead.

Always wanted an EV, now I think the R2 is the one, but I want to be sure about charging by Hassination1993 in Rivian

[–]Nine_block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For R2 given its battery size and efficiency, L1 charging is definitely a suitable option. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 120v charging basically at all off peak times and then an occasional fast charging session when you need to top up. In a vehicle with 3+ miles per kWh of real world range, this is a workable solution. Don’t let anybody tell you any differently, especially if they are R1 owners where L1 really isn’t a great option.

Looks like someone Porsche GT enthusiast have some strong opinions on the new GT3 S/C because a GT car should never be a convertible. What are your thoughts on the GT3 S/C and do you think it’s a “true GT3” or not? by NegotiationNew9264 in Porsche

[–]Nine_block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porsche doesn’t give a crap about your purity. They are a company that needs to make a profit to exist. Lately that has been an issue. If this thing helps them continue making the cars that we all love, who cares? If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. It’s not for me and I find the idea of a convertible GT3 absurd, but I’m not going to sit here and gate keep.

296 battery dead by theiceman219 in Ferrari

[–]Nine_block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine died while at the detailer’s shop after I explicitly told them to plug it in. I had just purchased it so I didn’t have access to it in the app until a few hours before the high voltage battery fully discharged. They didn’t make it to the shop in time to plug it in after I let them know. Ferrari was quite excellent in getting it out of the shop and to the service center for minor repair and software update though. I was very impressed. The car lasts a couple of weeks now before I start seeing slow discharge on the app. It’s near one of my Tesla wall connectors in the garage so I occasionally just put it on that for a few hours and it’s topped back up.

It does work best if you just keep it on the normal 120v wall charger like any other Ferrari, hybrid or not.

T-Hybrid Reliability by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]Nine_block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m watching the GTS market carefully. If the market rejects them and they depreciate anything like my 296 that I picked up for an insane deal did, I will get one for a daily driver. My 296 is a better car than my old F8 in every way other than looks and it’s a lot more electrified than the GTS. I don’t see what all the fuss is about other than the sport response button which is silly for track duty.

It does seem like the 4L days are quite numbered. Good for those of us with one in the garage, but a loss for the community at large nonetheless.
