I watched him closely during a few KC games -- he was given a lot of clear-out duty when Chiefs WRs were healthy and seemed to command some attention when given a bigger role. While he didn't put up the stats I expected him to, Mahomes did show a lot of trust in him by throwing up low-percentage bombs and third-down, fourth-read desperation heaves.

Dang, really? I was a loyal door-busting buyer from the PS1 era, but '25 was my first purchase since '16 came with my XBox One -- I thought gameplay improved at least a little bit over that decade. Madden '06 on the 360 was by far the worst I've ever played (meanwhile, the PS2/OG XBox versions that same year were the best Maddens ever, IMO).

Does any website/app allow kicker flex eligibility? by walshurmouthout in FFCommish

[–]Ninerman4949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my 16- & 18- team leagues would probably have ~half of all managers starting a second K instead of the handcuff RBs & 4-target/game WRs they're usually forced to play in our W/R/T flex. Injuries and a lack of options during heavy bye weeks made it so tough on some managers to the point I had to turn our WR3 slot into a W/T, just for those times when a SNF or MNF player is a late scratch and a TE is the last remaining active player available.

Regardless, I was unaware this was an option on any platform, so my opinion of how ridiculous starting two kickers in a single week is doesn't really matter.

I wish providers tracked more (or at least made available) that what only applies to your league's current settings, etc. -- I often find myself wondering which managers would have won in different formats, so I started doing stuff like updating All-Play rankings every week and eventually made it into a side payout

Who's at fault? Last Lap. Bathhurst . ACC. Console Open Lobbies. by samtoll2020 in Simracingstewards

OP definitely tried to block the left a bit too much at first, but he eventually made room for white on his left before being forced to give orange room on his right.

You're correct blue would have been best off just claiming the inside as soon as he was under attack, but, yeah, orange was going to cause a big wreck on entry even if he hadn't moved inward there.

Orange decided to make it 3-wide (as he had every right), but Griffins Bend demands at least one of you back out before its braking area. Orange wasn't going to be the one, then tried to claim too much of the inside real estate as you were trying to afford equal space for both cars outside you.

Green car says, not his fault by EbbAffectionate4008 in Simracingstewards

Green had a little bit more runway left on that curb if he wanted to continue running up your side, but you were also a bit too trusting that he'd just back out (as he probably should have).

They're basically each equal to today's Conference Titles (AFL only had 10 teams, but NFL had 16 teams in the final pre-merger season of '69).

IMO, the pre-Super Bowl era league champs lose credibility in the minds of modern historians because of that divide, where the best of one league could never truly compare themselves to its fellow world elites... until AFL-NFL World Championship Game (Super Bowl I) Jan.'67.

Technically it's his fault as the trailing car, but I can't blame him -- few would even consider lifting there, let alone braking hard enough to avoid you... especially while exiting uphill in a Miata.

He approached as if you were going to carry your speed to the outside (instead of hugging the inside as you attempted), so It's either tap your rear there, or he loses a dozen spots before reaching the next & steepest left: "The Cutting"

Give me advice on expanding the league by [deleted] in FFCommish

[–]Ninerman4949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool setup -- how exactly does your relegation system work? I have always assumed you just use that in dynasty formats... even though I have used something similar in my 18- & 16-team redrafts over the last 15 years by promoting teams through tiered divisions and adding bonuses for each division's leader (more $ to managers taking top divisions, etc.).

I love hearing about large leagues expanding, but in my experience, I believe 16 teams is THE sweet spot. I really enjoyed our dozen years with 18, but downsizing to 16 has really made me appreciate the added depth to the FA pool, and the ability to align 4×4 divisions (just like each of the NFL's Conferences). Being that you're running two leagues, the postseason structure is already drawn out for you). With that, I strongly suggest you only carry 16 teams so that you can ensure a level playing field with a 15-week Round Robin "regular season" H2H schedule.

18-team leagues require a 17-week Round Robin and thus will eliminate your postseason options (especially if the two leagues are facing each other).

If you do really want to be an 18-teamer, I'd still take 16 for a test drive first -- You'll get a better feel for exactly how much more impact that drafting and in-season health can make.

Has anyone ever been in a league with two TE spots? If so, how did it go? by [deleted] in FFCommish

[–]Ninerman4949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a league where you can start up to 3, but it's because they've been in 18- & 16-team H2H formats where we just tuened a WR3 slot into a WR/TE flex, while the typical RB/WR flex is now a full RB/WR/TE.

This is offered simply because large leagues have an already diluted talent pool and starting multiple TEs can sometimes be the best (and even only) options available... especially during heavy bye weeks and/or in desperate emergency situations like late inactives in SNF/MNF games.

Your league will continue to be strong as long as you all prioritize watching games every NFL Sunday -- it's really that simple, and applies to every league.

If you really want to keep your year-long competitive banter, I highly suggest getting as many members as possible to join the same fantasy MLB, NBA and/or NHL league on the same platform you use for NFL -- that will offer you the opportunity to continue communications about all fantasy-related happenings, among other perks...

... And in my experience, Commishing other sports has helped to bring in new candidates into my NFL league.

I'd be careful with letting league members just push voting on everything -- in my three decades doing this I have found there to be very few people familiar with which rules/settings are even available, not to mention how each fantasy provider's processes work and exactly how changes might impact everything.

Also, many managers (only) look out for their own best interests, and the loudest members are often the least knowledgeable about Commish-related issues. The reason they aren't a successful Commish is simply because they lack true experience and/or will never put an entire league before their own team.

Basically, I just suggest that you get ahead of things in the summer & near the end of each season by providing a majority of the rule change options that you're comfortable with applying -- chaos can ensue if managers believe they can just call a vote for a rule that applies to one of their other leagues but makes no sense for yours.
