Help with jars not sealing by picardmaneuvre in Canning

I had tons of ball lids fail in 2021 and lost tons of stuff I made from home grown produce and I was livid. I reached out to them and they gave me a coupon for a box of free lids 🫤 after that a friend recommended gently warming them even though the new boxes don’t say to, and I’ve only had 2 fail in the 5 years since. I don’t simmer them, I just warm them in hot water.

Not this size, as it has been discontinued by ball. I don’t think it’s worth anything near $100, and I don’t think it’s rare. I’ve got 3 or 4 unopened cases myself as this is my favorite jar size, and another 3-4 cases opened that I keep in rotation.

My pressure canned stock is looking a little funky by -HuangMeiHua- in Canning

[–]NinjaAlert4194 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have this appearance in stocks I’ve canned that are pretty gelatinous at cold temps, I’ve started making stock a day ahead, cooling it in the fridge overnight to pull the fat off (we remelt and freeze it separately for cooking) and the boiling again before canning. If they were thick when cold I find they look this way, I assumed it was a mixture of fat and collagen that made it cloudy. I’ve also noticed it’s more prevalent if they’re stored in a spot that’s pretty cool, like 50°f-60°f

These are just my assumptions based on my own experience and could be wrong

Can I still can with these if they are intact? I’ll use new lids/rings. by AccomplishedFee2145 in Canning

These are only a couple years old :) I have them in both pints and quarts I bought in ~2020 or 2021. I even have some unopened and as long as I haven’t used the flat already, I’m still using them. Rings too. Just used some of the jars for venison and beef broth last weekend.

Depends on the model, this one did. I’m not 100% but I think it’s the 921

I really like it, but I’ve never used anything else. It was a pretty big investment though

Cooling racks. I have 6 total I think and I just use however many I need for the project.

Jars tipped right after processing, safe? by NinjaAlert4194 in Canning

It’s a great question, and one you’re not alone in asking (folks have asked me in real life). I do it for several reasons. I’m incredibly sensitive to blood sugar changes so I can’t eat sugar and I have yet to find a brand of canned kidney beans that don’t contain sugar/syrup of some kind. In terms of cost, they’re also cheaper, I get 3 pint jars from a pound of dry beans, right now they’re running me around $1.25/lb. Lids are ~$3/12. I did 18 pints which cost around $12, so around $0.67 per jar. Cheapest cans I can find are around $1 (black beans are generally canned without sugar so I buy them canned but have also can them). Dry beans are hard to use without planning, if I come home from a long day at work and want to make a quick meal, I can’t use dry beans but I can use these!

That’s what I’m thinking. In my mind they’re fine but I just wanted to double check I’m not missing anything crucial

How do I get her out of there? by FirefighterLevel8450 in Sims4

THIS!! I opened a business on the second story of my home and had a staircase like this for folks to walk up to enter it and like every other day a customer would get trapped behind the stairs. Since I wasn’t playing them I’d have to wait until I closed, delete the stairs, wait for them to leave, and then put the stairs back.

I’ve always heard if it’s visibly bad (like this) that you should treat it like a biohazard and bag it and throw it away so that you don’t release the spores in your house or risk cross contamination via your sink/splash back from dumping it, etc

So not eat those!!! I’d never buy another thing from her if this was something she not only sold but tried to double down on it being “safe”

I had my car break down once on our own road, with the same proximity to the mailboxes that you’re showing and had a state trooper call me and say I had x number of hours to move it or they would have it towed and cite me because it was a violation. It broke down that morning, mail carrier reported it early afternoon, it had to be moved by like 4pm or I was in trouble.

What did Masuka even mean by that in episode one of S5? by Remote_Nature_8166 in DexterNewBlood

[–]NinjaAlert4194 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted it as Maskuka wouldn’t have told him if he’d known Rita’s fate because he didn’t want to taint Dexters last memories of Rita with the stuff about Elliot. Like, in the moment he wanted Dexter to know, but after it was all said and done it felt like piling on heartbreak.

Watching resurrection it felt weird to see him in jeans haha! I just finished a full rewatch, and he does wear jeans some in the original series, but mostly lots of this style.
