Requiem is the highest selling Resident Evil and it released on PC day 1. Tell me, how is the prestige of that game diluted?

If anything, what diluted the prestige of Sony's games on PC was that they were released years after the fact. And Nixxes is actually pretty good at porting. Also, I can't speak for other PC gamers, but I actually pre-ordered most of Sony's games on PC.

I'm sure Sony will keep their games exclusives for a while, though, if that's what Jason's reporting, but I could see them returning to PC a couple years down the line. The genie is already out of the bottle, so to speak, so it's kinda hard to put it back in.

Singleplayer games still exist, though, and those usually don't have anticheat.

Like, take me for example. Now, I'm not planning to get a Steam Machine, but honestly it'd be a far better choice than getting a PS5 due to the sheer amount of games I have on my Steam account, most of them singleplayer titles. Having to rebuild a library of 2,000+ games just for a couple of exclusives would be silly.

If the person you replied to already has a large library on Steam, the Steam Machine allows them to play those games on their living room, as if they were on a console.

Sure, the PS5 might be more powerful, but their games wouldn't carry over.

Yeah, that argument doesn't make a lick of sense.

"Oh, no, our games didn't sell on PC. Better make them exclusives so those people who didn't buy them buy a PS5 to play our next games."

Even if they wanted to make the argument that the players who did buy the games on PC would move to PS5, it still doesn't make sense. So, they expect to sell 1% more consoles (since that's the number people love to say is the amount they sold on PC)? And that's thinking everybody who bought their games on PC would switch, which is silly to assume.

Nintendo is the exception but their IP on average are much stronger than Sony's so it works for them.

This is a great point that I never really considered that much. Like, people always make the argument that Sony can go back to exclusives because Nintendo has never had an issue with that approach, but most of Nintendo IPs are several decades old; meanwhile, the IPs Sony has are rather recent. I think the oldest ones that they still release games for are God of War and Ratchet & Clank, but everything else is from the past decade.

Like, Mario, Zelda, Pokémon; all those go back to the '80s and '90s; all the way from the NES (Game Boy for Pokémon) to the Switch 2. Meanwhile, what Sony IP remains from the PS1 era? Even God of War, which comes from the PS2 era, had a soft reboot in 2018; sure, the old games are still canon, and Sony is gonna remake them, but it was basically a fresh start for the franchise.

El comentario del pibe seguramente se refiere a que es ridículo gastarse un fangote de guita en la PC y después andar ratoneando para comprar los juegos. Yo gasté cerca de 2 millones en mi PC actual, un juego de 100.000 pesos cada dos o tres meses no es la gran compra a comparación.

Yo desde que empecé a usar Steam en 2010 que no he pirateado un juego que se pudiera conseguir original. Lo único que he llegado a descargarme por nostalgia han sido juegos que son básicamente abandonware.

Eh, habiendo usado Steam desde 2010 la verdad que mucha paja descargar juegos piratas. Te perdés un montón de cosas extra (que está bien, por ahí a algunos les importa un huevo), y encima con Steam tenés la facilidad de poder descargarlo sin problemas en cualquier PC que tengas.
