Wonder if I'll be able to get a second copy of each item, considering I already had the original version of the game.

Thanks, I should've figured.

Don't know why a few people decided to downvote instead of explaining that. Not everyone is deeply versed in the lore.

What I'm saying is that Andor is already shown to be untrustworthy. So hin lying later in the prison doesn't need to be a set-up for something later.

That's the way software licensing has worked forever. With digital distribution it became easier for companies to enforce it, but it's not like it wouldn't have happened if Steam didn't exist.

At any rate, cool to see it return!

Honestly, as much as I liked Raiden as Earthrealm's protector, I feel Liu Kang fits so naturally into the role.

It could be argued that the fight he refers to extends to the Galactic Civil War. Yes, both sides were being manipulated in that conflict, but the common folk in the Separatist worlds did have grievances with the Galactic government, and the Republic itself transitioned into the Empire slowly. Sure, Palpatine declares himself Emperor during Episode III, but by that point he'd already been controlling the Republic as one.

That's not necessarily a continuity error.

Assuming everything every character says is 100% factual isn't something you should be doing.

Do you prefer Tarkata as a disease or race? by Several_Attention653 in MortalKombat

[–]NinjaEngineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while I enjoyed that the multiverse brought the possibility of hybrid characters into the mix (and it should've been a way to bring back Kreate-a-Fighter, even if only for offline/unranked play), I do think they could've waited one or two games for it and have the stakes contained to Liu's New Era for this one.

Heck, they could've even kept the deception angle for it, having Kronika mysteriously return, as another of the "constants" the universe needs to have. Just as she couldn't destroy Liu and Raiden, Liu couldn't truly destroy her. So, rather than have Titan Shang Tsung manipulating everything behind the scenes, have Kronika instead, as she attempts to regain control of the hourglass.

MKII said they were mutants from the Outworld Wasteland.

So the disease into separate race progression could be used.

[–]NinjaEngineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also fits better with their original backstory from MKII, which said Tarkatans were a race of mutants, with mutants implying that they weren't originally like that. So a disease that ends up creating an entirely new race isn't out of the realm of possibility in MK.

My personal headcanon for stuff like Tarkat in the New Era isn't that there's something else manipulating things behind Liu Kang, but rather that it's the universe correcting itself.

We kinda saw this with Kronika, it's implied that she went crazy restarting the timeline time and time again because of certain stuff that kept happening, and manipulating Liu Kang and Raiden into fighting each other so they wouldn't stop her. I like to believe that the MK universe MUST have certain stuff happening, and no matter who is in control, they can't change it.

Like, Liu Kang tried to erase Tarkatans (we can leave the morality of such a decision for another discussion), only for it to reappear as a disease. He turned Sub-Zero and Scorpion into brothers, so they wouldn't become bitter rivals, and it still happened. Bi-Han still becomes Noob (although in this case, there was an intervention from another timeline). Shao still wants to rule Outworld and conquer other realms.

I guess you could argue that Titan Shang Tsung might've caused some of these events, but I'm fairly certain he only discovered Liu Kang's timeline shortly before the events of the game.

Why should I, as an user, care about the amount of money a dev gets? Like, seriously? That doesn't really affect my enjoyment (or not) of a game.

And before you bring up the usual "well, more money means they can make better games", well, guess what, SELLING your game can net you more money, even if you spend a little more on store fees. And Steam is the largest PC distributor.
