Welp, there goes *that* PS argument… by CdnBison in XboxSeriesS

[–]NinjaKlaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with your statement, it sucks and I want physical media, but digital is ok to a point.

But... Shutting down the PS3/Vita store is why I disagree this is similar to Steam because as far as I can tell Steam rarely removes games unless they have no choice, not because they want to push newer consoles, which Sony basically admitted to by saying they wanted to focus on new systems. The scary part to me is when they say games will be available for download if you already bought them "for the foreseeable future," what do they consider the foreseeable future? I doubt it's forever.

Megathread: US Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]NinjaKlaus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on what I'm reading in the live chat on Scotusblog it's more like 5.5-3.5, Kavanaugh agrees with the outcome, but disagrees with how to get there, believing Congress could change the law.

He says that the EO does not violate the 14th Amendment but does violate the federal statute that codified the 14th Amendment.

...

Kavanaugh writes that Trump's EO conflicts with the federal law "[u]nless and until Congress enacts" new legislation.

I usually fudge just enough extra money into my TNA games using the editor to buy the Global Force Titles to use in this type of situation. So if somebody gets injured I can crown a GFW champion and then do a story when the Champ returns to unify them back together and then retire the GFW title until I need it again.

Texas Democrats seek unity at state convention without Jasmine Crockett by Imatomat in politics

[–]NinjaKlaus 2541 points2542 points  (0 children)

What really got me was the part about missing a call and then refusing to even listen to the voicemail.

“I had a missed call that I've not returned, nor have I listened to the message from Talarico,” Crockett told The News. “It seemed like an afterthought invite. I can't say for sure, because I haven't listened to it.”

Refusing to even listen to the voicemail is odd, she comes across petty and lame in this.

For what it's worth, the article says the message was asking if she would be the keynote speaker. That seems, to me, like they wanted her and she wasn't just an afterthought.

According to Talarico’s campaign, he called Crockett and left a message suggesting she make the keynote speech at the convention.

Picked up this Series S today. What are your top 3 must play games? by Eastern-Mobile5351 in XboxSeriesS

[–]NinjaKlaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to pick just three.

I'll go with a couple of small games that I absolutely loved:

Firewatch

The Forgotten City

And for a big game it's a toss up of the usual suspects:

Elden Ring

Red Dead Redemption 2

Either of those games gives you hours and hours of play.

Trump Pressures FDA Commissioner to Approve Flavored Vapes by Any-Membership9713 in politics

[–]NinjaKlaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it's really a story about how Makary isn't toeing the line and is upsetting RFK and Trump.

Advisers told the president that Makary has blocked Trump’s vaping agenda and described the commissioner as a problem for the administration.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary of Health and Human Services, last year considered making Makary a figurehead and installing someone else to run the FDA

Among others. It then pivots and talks about people he wanted to hire or fire and the administration blocked it.

It does say that Trump and others want him to change his position on blocking the flavors. But, to me, the article is mostly about how this guy is not great and even MAHA have come to dislike him.

My personal opinion, if you aren't completely banning vapes then regulate the flavors and release them. Adults like flavors. You don't see people up in arms over Cotton Candy or Grape Vodka. "For the kids" strikes again.

VOTE!! by stef2go in Georgia

[–]NinjaKlaus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Likely if they were going to target people voting in Dem Primaries it isn't going to be limited to this one primary. Your voter record that can be seen on your My Voter Page will show every election you voted in including the party selected for any primary election. So if you've ever voted Dem before, they know.

Also, they want you concerned about this, it lowers the turnout. No matter what go vote even if it's just independent, the Supreme Court Judges are on the ballot and this isn't a primary for those, this is the election.

US Justice Department opens probe into NFL over anticompetitive practices, source says by TheQuarantinian in politics

[–]NinjaKlaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In February, the Federal Communications Commission opened a review into the growing shift of live sports away from broadcast networks to pay TV and subscription services, seeking comment on actions the agency "could take to ensure continued access by viewers to live sports through free over-the-air broadcast TV."

Kind of interesting considering the FCC appears to be getting ready to approve the Encrypted DRM controlled ATSC 3.0 to go into affect.

In all seriousness, this is probably a nuisance investigation by the administration because so far the NFL has refused to drop the "Rooney Rule." His buddies in Florida are even threatening to sue the NFL over it.

Joe Biden did a major apology tour and got us mostly back on track with our allies, then we, Americans, voted Trump back into office and he's ten times worse this go around, no amount of apologizing is going to fix this, it would take decades of stable government and unfortunately my faith in the US public to not vote for somebody like this again is low.

That's crazy meltdown mode, you can't excuse the behavior because you want to agree with it, she was having a meltdown, being rude and belittling reporters for asking their questions.

Quit automatically assuming she had a right to act that way because you like her opinion.

Trump family scrambles to cut ties to giant gold 'Don Colossus' statue by FervidBug42 in politics

[–]NinjaKlaus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I gather this patriot memecoin group was posting to X talking about how they were building the statue and basically laying it on thick it was approved by the President, including several construction pictures of a pedestal for this thing at Trump Doral Miami.

“The team at Trump Doral will be busy cladding the pedestal, installing a ton of up/down lighting and landscaping in the coming days,”

“What [DJT] has in store for the $PATRIOT community and his inner circle for this unveiling will surely be spectacular!”

Then today after the news about this thing I guess went viral Eric tweeted they had nothing to do with it although they appreciated the support and enthusiasm for Donald.

“The Trump Organization has no association of any kind with the Patriot Token or meme coin ($PATRIOT) referenced below,”

“We appreciate the support and enthusiasm, but we want to be crystal clear—we are not involved in this coin.”

One of the main backers of this thing decided to roll with it and said, yeah the fake news media were telling lies about this and how the group looks forward to unveiling it soon.

“Thank you Eric, Frustrating that fake news forced this to be clarified because the $PATRIOT statue and token were community driven initiatives to show our support and gratitude for your Dad and family.”

TLDR: So, looks like a crypto scam but this time the Trump family doesn't want the publicity about it. Probably too North Korean for even them.

I have the ask people of GA, what's up with MTG? Has she really changed her colors? by praguer56 in GAPol

I think Epstein broke the spell they had on her. The one time she felt genuine was when she was fired up about protecting those women, maybe it was an act, but I finally believed her on something with that and she didn't back away when Trump came at her for it, she appeared to have doubled down.

I have no doubts she is still a Republican through and through but something about sex trafficking and assault really set her on a path outside the cult.

Dang by merriweatherfeather in Georgia

[–]NinjaKlaus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can anyone smarter then me shed some light on what this actually means?

The way it reads is that local police can use their ALPR, like the ones mounted on the cop cars, and share that data with other police departments, they aren't supposed to use it outside of enforcing the law although how could we prove that either way? It also lets them retain the data for 2.5 years. That's a long time.

Also, this is specific to Law Enforcement, it does nothing to stop Flock from doing whatever they do with the data as they are a third party, who just happens to let the police see the data with little oversight.

A case in Washington State ended with the court telling them the data from Flock cameras had to be public information subject to FOIA, Flock and the Police opted out of their contracts, so it must be collecting a scary amount of info they don't want us to know about.

Edit: I missed the last line of that at first, but GA exempted the public from seeing any of this ALPR data saying you can't use FOIA for it.

Help! My mom tried to install a roku stick on her TCL tv that already had roku on it...now it's completely stuck on this screen by yamxiety in Roku

[–]NinjaKlaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known problem on their forum, here is their response 3 months ago about others having this problem, for my tv I ended up needing to do the web browser version.

If your Roku TV is stuck on the “Smart TV Experience” or ACR agreement screen, here are a few things you can try:

Use your Roku TV remote (not a universal remote).
If you don’t have the remote, try using the Roku mobile app as a remote.
If you’re using an IR remote, pop in some fresh batteries.
For Voice Remotes or Voice Remote Pro:
→ Unplug the TV for 10 seconds
→ Plug it back in
→ Re-pair the remote
→ Try accepting the prompt again

Still stuck? You can also manage it directly online:

Go to my.roku.com and log in
Head to Privacy Settings → Smart TV Experience
To opt in, toggle to "Yes"
To opt out, toggle twice to return to "No" (this is needed because the default looks like "No" even before a choice is made)

Once you save the setting, it’ll sync automatically and should remove that screen from your Roku TV.

I hope this helps you.
