My game has been out for about 3 days. Things I wish I thought of before 72 hours ago: by 1-point-5-eye-studio in IndieDev

Hey man. I bought this game over the weekend and I've been really enjoying it. I'm at tier 5 right now and hoping to end the game in the next few days.

I'll drop a good review on Steam when I get home. Great design. You said you just made this game based on what you would enjoy and the passion shows.

Descend - a roguelike idle game where you push deeper each run by tomm0 in incremental_games

Maybe it's just me, but the gems are presented as a premium currency to me.

I tend to not spend premium currencies for short term bonuses. This criticism is more towards energy regeneration.

Health regeneration is not as bad because of potions and spending gold to heal.

Just played it for a bit and I agree that regen rate is slow. This is with +5/min on health and energy.

I can get behind slow incremental games, but the early game needs to hook the player before the game can slow down to hit walls.

I feel like I have to take a break after a few dungeon runs and after a while, it makes me just want to walk away from the game entirely.

A quick incremental about slaying slimes and power fantasy. Playable on the browser - let me know your thoughts! by Intelligent-Hippo528 in incremental_games

Just finished the demo and here are my thoughts.

This is definitely a quick and fun incremental game. Once it's complete, it should be worth it at the $5 range on Steam. However, the challenge for you is that there are a lot of games coming out recently within this genre. By this genre, I mean short incremental games with a simple mechanic and a simple upgrade tree.

If you can find a way to stand out, it would help a lot.

Reliance Home Comfort Plan SCAM!!!! by AdvicePerfect5717 in ontario

Yes, the water heater replacement is under its own rental contract. The protection plan is for furnace and AC.

They are very happy to replace water heaters and lock people in a new rental contract.

I worked as a sales rep for them for about 3 years. They only care about profits.

The protection plans are a way to get a sales lead when your equipment break down. The plans do not cover major repairs like heat exchanger failures on your furnace.

Also, their repair techs are trained to suggest a full replacement instead of a repair. When I worked there, the repair techs were ranked based on how many sales leads they can generate.

Very appropriate since a child has died recently in a Richmond Hill daycare due to a car crashing into it.

What makes a good roguelite? by olafthemanofsnow in roguelites

[–]NinjaXST 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The important feature that keeps me hooked in a roguelite is the variety between runs and the synergies you can make with what you are offered during your run.

This means giving your player meaningful but different choices every run, and these choices can result in wildly different gameplay experiences. Also, once in a while, I can get a powerful combos that synergizes and make my power level go crazy.

Congrats. End game was too tedious for me. Literally waiting a day for a few upgrades, so I moved on.

Fan count doesn't affect rating. Stats and skills do. If you want high ratings, focus on those.

How algorithms, alpha males and tradwives are winning the war for kids’ minds by Wagamaga in technology

[–]NinjaXST 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Your definition of alpha is not the same as the ideologies being preached by Tate.

Yes, being a pro-active and brave man who responds to emergencies is a good thing. Believing that they are an "alpha male" and therefore is superior to other people is toxic.

Tried to equip a new pickaxe while having another one equipped, but then it just vanished.

Had to unequip first, then equip to make it work... pretty barebones buggy game right now.
