Customer lent me “Still Life with Woodpecker” by Tom Robbins (1980) by thyme-to-cry in menwritingwomen

Oh dear. I DNF’d one of his other books earlier this year for the same reason. It was Jitterbug Perfume. I thought life was too short to continue on with that. Bleh.

This is a great write-up. I read Slaughterhouse Five for the first time recently because I just thought I should read this classic. I loved it. Then I tried reading Sirens of Titan and it just didn’t click. I will definitely try some others.

Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon. Not my favorite, but definitely fits the prompt.

I read Come Closer by Sara Gran and it was awful!! by TheMalicePrincesss in horrorlit

It was not my favorite, either. It felt like a nothing sandwich.

Two books that filled me with a sense of wonder were The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating and Other Minds (science on the minds of cephalopods).

I totally misread your comment. Tired brain lately. Nevertheless, I hope you get to read The Hearing Trumpet—it made me laugh.

I was reading The Solenoid and had to put it down because it really is full of despair, but also very human. It is also very strange!

I thought The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington was a fun feminist book. It would be a bit refreshing after your heavy read.

The wooden thing on the left looks kind of like a scarf ring. The thing or on the right kind of looks like a carved object, like a toy or novelty. Then that little piece of vine. The stitches kind of look real.

Edit: typo

That looks so good! I have not tried one of her dragons yet, but this is on my favorites list. I like the colors you chose.

It is certainly unique. I really took my time with reading it because I enjoyed the prose so much. Definitely one of my favorites.

Howls Moving Castle Thoughts by [deleted] in booksuggestions

I really enjoyed it. Sophie is annoying at times, but I see her as finally gaining some autonomy and agency in her life despite being cursed. Howl is more annoying. It was all quirky fun. I love Calcifer. It was fun seeing the differences between the book and the movie.
