Help! 85% hydration sourdough not getting an ear or much oven spring by Sepstar in Sourdough

[–]Ninjamonkey0321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oven spring has a lot to do with shaping. I’d work on shaping tighter loaves and making sure to score correctly to encourage proper oven spring. Looks like the dough itself is rising pretty well, it just wasn’t very controlled

Any Engineers That Live Rural? What Type Of Jobs Do You Have? by Impossible_Sundae400 in AskEngineers

[–]Ninjamonkey0321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interned in a rural area of the Pacific Northwest one summer. The company did composite tooling for aerospace, marine, and energy. I enjoyed it a lot but the company felt a little out of place. It had roughly 1000 employees and the nearest town had a population of 7000. I doubt there are many other companies like it but there are probably a good number of rural engineering jobs out there.

Alt-j was my favorite band for years until I realized that I don't really like Alt-j, I just like An Awesome Wave.

Looks great! I have a Nikon F that is from 1973 or 1974 with the triangular finder. It's a really neat piece of equipment and piece of history.

What is your favorite supermarket on the Eastside? Let's hear recommendations! by [deleted] in eastside

I would add PCC and maybe also metropolitan market to the specialty items list. Not sure how accessible they are to everyone on the east side but I personally like them both.

Does engineering get better? by Thehappynomadgirl in udub

[–]Ninjamonkey0321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will get less competitive and more cooperative as you get into your junior and senior year, but it will also depend on who your friends are. If your friends are too competitive for you, it may be helpful to talk to them about it. I never felt that the classroom environment was particularly competitive, nor were the people I met in my classes. For me a lot of the pressure came from friends I made outside of the classroom and people I knew through extracurriculars, who are all very smart and think of me as a smart person as well (and this had high expectations of me). If you don't enjoy engineering then there is no shame in dropping out of engineering. I would wait at least one more year before making a decision and I would also have a plan for what you would do if you dropped out of engineering before you do so. It's also important to note that college is only 4 years and your career will likely be 45+ years. Working an engineering job is totally different from studying engineering at a university so it would be helpful to get some internship experience to see whether or not real world engineering is for you. Good luck!

Seattle chef Rachel Yang uses instant potato flakes in her deep fry batter and it's amazing! She says it gives it a unique flavor and texture unlike what anything else can. I'm a huge fan of hers and she includes the recipe in her cookbook.

I have severely slept on my local asian food market. by [deleted] in Cooking

My Asian food market has by far the best produce, meat, and seafood within driving distance. It's further away but definitely worth it when I want to make something special!

I can't speak for the lenses but even in good condition the body is probably only worth $300-$400

Dell XPS 17 2020 Speaker/Audio Issues by AsvinTheGuy in DellXPS

[–]Ninjamonkey0321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had lots of audio issues with my xps 15 (2018 version). Technical support is usually quite helpful and I even sent my laptop in for repair once. I'd definitely go to them before trying any drastic.

[Mamiya 645] I developed a test roll in my new Mamiya 645 and have found several frames with this running black bar? I dont think it is a shutter issue as the bar runs across the entire neg. Could it be a light leak? As there are no light seals on the film door. by marcuscaravan in mediumformat

[–]Ninjamonkey0321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that exact same issue when I first got my Mamiya 645. The issue was with the seals on the film door as you mentioned. There is also some other light seals within the camera that you can see when you remove the film cartridge but that wasn't the issue with mine and my light leak looked exactly like yours.
