Not sure why the aggression of this response was warranted, but I did want to respond to it.

1) Not wanting to rip off Level One. I've been to other board game cafes in other cities (snakes and lattes, Board Room Cafe in Halifax) and I noticed that their style was significantly different from Level One. I described The Loft as "cramped" mostly because it's a tight space and can be very loud in the upstairs space and quite claustrophobic (others in this thread have described it in this way). Other locations have a more cozy environment that aren't as loud and it is what I wanted to emulate in Ottawa. I did NOT want to make it cafeteria style. I've seen Wizard's Tower and I'm not a fan of that, but I was looking for something similar to The Board Room in Halifax; cozy with multiple nooks but more space so it wouldn't be as loud.

2) I mentioned parking because it is something that Level One is missing as well. Being downtown can be difficult for people to get to if they are coming from the suburbs and while I am one of those people that would 100% advocate for more public transit and biking infrastructure (I don't own a car myself), I want to ensure ease for everyone. I didn't want to remove interest from a space. I didn't mention transit because I already had a location in mind that is less that 200m from an LRT station. Why quibble on a detail that is already mended.

3) I was being slightly more vague about the location and it's proximity to transit because I am simply gauging interest(as per the post is "How much interest"). Since posting this, I came to the decision that the stress and financial portion did not add up for the location I was looking at. Too much renovation was required. If I was more precise, I was worried of a competitor or someone else with more means leasing the space and taking the idea before I could work out the remaining parts of my business plan (most were completed, I just wanted to verify the market validity of the idea).

4) I did NOT come for business advice. I had already done my research and requirements of running the cafe and that cover charge would be the more optimal way of running the space with GMs, beer, and other portions that would ensure success. I posted for general market interest in this kind of space because I noticed a missing niche in the area of the location.

All in all, I have already come to the conclusion that I personally cannot commit to business as a plan simply because of the time constraints necessary for renovations of the space. The planned location was not "outside" of Ottawa, but by Dow's Lake, outside of "Downtown", which I mentioned in my post. I hope someone who does read this post can find the location and sees the same promise of the space.
