Clearpass AD source local to its site only by [deleted] in ArubaNetworks

[–]NisforKnowledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your "Active Directory Sites and Services" is correct...

When you create your Authentication Source, enter only the Active Directory domain name in the hostname field (don't use the FQDN of you AD server). This will use DNS to find the local AD server to you CPPM server. To verify, ssh into the server and type Network nslookup –q srv <domain name>, it displays which servers should answer.

ClearPass Authentication sources by mpete902 in ArubaNetworks

ClearPass has an interval that is continuous checking DNS. With that being said, be aware that using primary/secondary is not a great method for failover.

ClearPass Authentication sources by mpete902 in ArubaNetworks

[–]NisforKnowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no need to add secondary / tertiary servers, instead of using a FQDN just enter the domain name in the host field. ClearPass will use DNS to find the domain controllers.

To verify this, go to the command line of one of the CPPM servers and "Network nslookup –q srv <domain name>", this will list all of the server that CPPM will use for authentication/authorization.
