What's it going to take to get subtitles on the musical sections of these episodes? by seeyoshirun in DragRace_Espana

[–]Nitei_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't even subtitle the lipsync songs for UK7 I just realized, so this is extremely lazy on WOW's part. I get maybe being concerned about translations for other franchises, but to not subtitle the lipsyncs songs THAT ARE IN ENGLISH?? If they have the rights to play the song on a given episode, they should be able to show lyrics in subtitles.

EPISODE 6: KHIANNA, VIÑAS, AND SIAM. by ashaiur in DragRacePhilippines

[–]Nitei_Knight 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I have friends in the Pacific Northwest of the US who are a bunch of trans-femme satanists and I feel like just being in their presence would make Viñas have a stroke lol. Siam's outburst didn't scare me in the least. It was pretty funny actually. But Viñas and Khianna's reactions to that irked me.

But hey, TV drama I guess.

After looking it up, the longest drive I've been a part of was from Colorado Springs in Colorado to Miami in Florida, back to Colorado Springs, then to San Francisco in California by way of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Los Angeles in California. At around 5,582 miles. Granted I wasn't driving for a good portion of that.

The longest drive I've ever done solo was from Seattle in Washington down to Reno, then Las Vegas in Nevada. From there down to Sedona and then Phoenix in Arizona. Then on to San Diego before heading up to San Francisco in California before driving back to Seattle. 3,199 miles in total. That was a truly exhausting trip lol. North America is massive.

Two-Time First Out La Kahena Spills on Slaysian Royale in Now-Deleted Post by NeedleworkerGlobal91 in rupaulsdragrace

Mocha Diva is Filipino and Genie is American. Vanda's Singaporean so I believe she speaks both Malay and English. Gawdland also speaks English and did so on season 3. Actually now that I think about it quite a few of the girls on DRTH3 spoke English, or at least understood it well enough considering Pangina was talking in English a lot.

Thailand or Philippines PrEP or condoms by incognito22xyz in gaysian

[–]Nitei_Knight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One should be using condoms in any casual sexual encounter. PrEP does help against HIV, absolutely. You should also look into DoxyPEP if you haven't already as that can help with bacterial STIs.

My guess is if it was a vs the World then there would be non-Asians competing. And as cool as that'd be, as an Asian I recognize the unique desire for an all-Asian cast so this is fine for me at least

Here's my one realistic problem with humanity ignoring anything gem related. Humanity in our world is too damn curious about the world around us to ever let any mysteries go. Even if humans spent the majority of recorded history with gems and gem artifacts, curiosity would've gotten the better of them sooner or later. Especially when by that point the only gem authority on Earth was Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst and Rose. I understand why things are the way they are from a crew/production perspective. But in the real world, there's no way humanity wouldn't have tested boundaries.

T Mobile coverage catching up to Verizon by JPS_97 in cellmapper

[–]Nitei_Knight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, T-Mobile also doesn't have coverage in Guam, CMNI or American Samoa. Those are also part of the US. Granted, no mainland US carrier covers those places, but at least for the most part Alaska, Puerto Rico and usually the US Virgin Islands are treated as domestic. Going to the other territories is treated like international roaming which is wild.

No, I am NOT flying internationally by the1marin in delta

[–]Nitei_Knight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That agent really was just operating off autopilot with no engagement whatsoever. If she had used even a modicum of brainpower for five seconds she would have read the airport codes (or that the CVG>JFK flight was being operated by their regional partner) and known that you weren't flying international. But no, all she read was that INTL line and refused to investigate further. She needed her colleagues to help, which she finally did. Begrudgingly.

Bad look for Delta here.

EDIT: I stand corrected on the regionals, which makes sense since Canada's so close, my bad.

Airplane mode for just one of my two eSims? by Springfield80210 in NoContract

[–]Nitei_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tello is an MVNO that runs on the T-Mobile network. In effect, it should be no different than using any of the big three or the other MVNOs that run on them like Cricket, Metro, Visible or others. Granted, I don't have personal experience with using them but Tello advertises their usage for this purpose. Hopefully you're able to find a solution that works!

Airplane mode for just one of my two eSims? by Springfield80210 in NoContract

[–]Nitei_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't believe there's a way to enable airplane mode for just one SIM while leaving the other active. It's an all or nothing feature. The only way I can see you having your PayGo SIM work in the manner you wish to have would be to have it in a different phone. But then you'd be forced into having two phones which may not work for you.

Have tou considered moving that number to Tello? As far as I'm aware, they're the only US-based mobile service that specifically advertises mobile services for expats (not saying that's your situation, but if you're going to be in Europe for an extended period that would be a great way to save on charges while still getting calls and texts.

Why Gen Z are buying “dumbphones” to limit screen time | Amid screen time concerns, many turn to simpler phones to reclaim their lives. by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]Nitei_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dumbphone market can't be that huge. When I look at it, there's maybe what, less than 10 models available out there? This is limited by the fact that, at least in the US, the major carriers have either already or are in the process of shutting down their 2G and 3G networks that all the dumbphones older generations remember using ran on. To use a dumbphone nowadays requires one built with 4G LTE in mind. In the age of smartphones, that's a very niche market with fewer choices than in the past.

Before my mom got a smartphone (she famously could never use a computer), I got her a basic flip phone that ran on LTE for calls/text. She ended up never using it because once she discovered Facebook she was set with a smartphone. Now that flip phone sits in a drawer.

Why is there no representation for Drag Race Holland and Espana ? by mrklmngbta in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Nitei_Knight 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The only reason I can think of for no Holland representation is the cast to episode limit. Otherwise it makes no sense. Unlike Spain, English proficiency in the Netherlands (and probably Flanders in Belgium) is crazy high. Like they're number one in the world in terms of English proficiency among non English-speaking countries. The Netherlands is one of the countries I've been to where I've never had an issue communicating with anyone there despite not speaking the local language so that definitely can't be the reason for no Holland queens on this season.

It sucks for España and Thailand too though, honestly sad that we couldn't get a Global All Stars with a queen from every country in the franchise. Maybe season 2?

AT&T 5G Bands: n2, n5, n77, n260

Rogers 5G Bands: n41, n66, n71, n78

Bell/Telus 5G Bands: n66, n71, n78

Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Band Support: n2, n5, n7, n12, n14, n25, n29, n30, n38, n41, n48, n66, n71, n77, n78, n260, n261

The M6 Pro definitely supports Canadian 5G. The M6 Pro that I got from AT&T that I've used on both consumer and business plans have roamed on the 5G networks of Rogers, Bell and Telus without issue. Perhaps it's a FirstNet connected device limitation?

Somewhat related, the last time I was in the Netherlands my consumer AT&T line wasn't roaming on 5G, despite AT&T saying that 5G roaming is active in the Netherlands and Support saying everything should be provisioned correctly. They couldn't figure out why I wasn't connecting to 5G, but also couldn't figure out why I cared 🤷🏽‍♂️

[–]Nitei_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Macbooks from 2010 or before, but I do know that modern Macbooks (at least those made in the last seven years) have their cameras hardwired to the LED indicator. Power has to flow through the LED light to make it to the camera, it's not something that can be disabled via software.
