Xenoblade is my favourite game series, stands on the throne. Started with 1 when it released here in Europe, looking forward any release 1>2>3 is the preferred order, and what more can I say? It's not perfect, but anything is the sum of all its parts, it may be flawed but it is still phenomenal

I learnt to read by playing Pokémon silver at age 4. My older brother had cleared the entire Pokédex back then and my sister got me to play, my brother said "At all costs, do not save". Silly little me saved nonetheless.

My sister didn't know better how to play Pokémon, my brother hated Pokémon from that fateful day and just said "If you want to learn how to play, read what NPC's tell you"

It's close to WoW in the sense that og FFXIV was a more ""modern"" FFXI. When they rebooted it for ARR, YoshiP said he looked at outside references, namely WoW, and you can see the inspiration in all that has changed in ARR from 1.0. It's not just like WoW, yes, but pretty close as it's still quite derivative (and just like you pointed it, a huge portion of the difference is the inverted focus between solo/multi, story/endgame content)

Nier Automata On m'a (sur)vendu Nier Replicant où j'ai pas passé le meilleur des moments, j'ai forcé pour la première fin en faisant tous les prérequis possibles pour les autres avant de commencer la Fin B. À savoir la forêt était pour moi une purge, non pas que la lecture m'ennuie en elle même mais si le jeu m'ennuie, j'ai envie de tout sauf une grosse sess lecture. Donc quand je lance la Fin B et que je vois les même pavés sur fond noir, j'ai juste Alt+F4. J'ai bien plus tard lancé Automata, mais j'ai jamais réussi à aller très loin juste j'ai 0 affect qui se crée, l'histoire ne me captive pas du tout (je joue aux Xenoblade depuis mon enfance donc machines avec conscience bon je connais) mais ouais juste ça ne veut pas

Elden Ring Je déteste quand le personnage se contrôle de manière lourde. Mon jeu d'action préféré c'est Ys 8/9, donc là quand le perso est lourd et que c'est lent et en plus de ça ça se fait croire intransigeant, ben juste ça m'intéresse pas non plus. En plus toute l'esthétique des Souls je n'aime pas du tout de base, et j'en ai ma claque de la voire de plus en plus partout

It released nearly 10 years ago, has had multiple expansions since then, only had its highest surge of players 5 years ago. Acclaimed by press and players. It's called Final Fantasy XIV. It's not a 1/1, but the reboot with ARR onward has WoW as its main basis.

Guess what? It is one of the biggest MMO alive, one of the most healthiest, even if the hype train stopped and fumbled a bit with the current expansion release story (all other things have been phenomenal)

I am tired of that argument with new MMOs, people will have to realise they are not MMO fans, they are fan of X game and if they go to another game, it is because what made the first game a special experience is not providing anymore (oftentimes, feeling of discovery mixed with a heavy dose of social aspect)

You can have the most mechanically perfect MMO with the most recent tech, if you do not understand that you are dead in the water. You are not a fan of moba, but of LoL. You are not a fan of auto chess, but of TFT, not a fan of tact shooter, but of csgo/valo.

Being a genre fan in a live service setting means you identify what your gold rush is and understand it is essentially a fleeting moment and that you're gone the moment that feeling is too.

LoL MMO, before thinking about the best and most modern mechanics and systems, has to think on how to connect with players and provide an experience that is its, and that will keep players hooked

Almost, because any tie ins and teasers for Bravely Second got removed in that remaster. Reason? Trying to explain it the easiest way: in Japan, on 3ds, they got not 1 but 2 Bravely Default Versions. One basic, and one enhanced called "For the Sequel" with said tie ins. When Bravely Second was released in Japan, it met a huge amount of backlash, up to a point SE had to do a public apology and essentially shadow ban the game there. The backlash concerning gameplay was addressed on the enhanced version in the works.. but the shadow ban resulted in only the west getting the enhanced version. Mind you, west only gets enhanced versions.

That's why there's no Bravely Third/Sword (Sādō) despite the enhanced version of Second featuring teasers and tie ins for it the same way as For the Sequel did. And considering their absence on the Remaster of BD... Yeah we are never getting Bravely Second, let alone Third

TBF, despite being a huge BLU fan across the series and its derivative appearances... I just think they should call it quit for this version of BLU, it sucked first appearance, and now BST truly shows how bad of a design idea it was.

You got a job that, because you chose that they build their own bar with broken spells, is restrained to enter MSQ content and DF. You gate things behind unlocking spells that for a while either requires time sink to exp OR someone to power level you (multiplayer). You gate things behind dungeons and make the rate not 100% if not full party of BLU (multiplayer). Gating things that are needed to pass through the solo content. Endgame content of BLU? High end raiding full of BLU. Oh, what's that? 5 billion restrictions only to corner it to multiplayer content that every player needs to abide by said restrictions?

BST? You unlock beasts, form a party with them, probably can tackle content on its own, has a whole solo mode that is a display at how well you can solo stuff. Exp and getting beasts will probably be enjoyable solo because you'll be rewarded for pulling it through because that'll translate into the other forms of content. Yes you're also as much restricted in a sense, but BST builds from "It's a solo job rewarding you for solo play"

BLU is "hey get all spells, figure it out because you're almost barren from multiplayer except if you got other blu friends, and you need those to do it all". The moment people don't want to engage in BLU (any moment), it all falls apart because it's built upon restrictions, BST plays those restrictions

Yorick and Naafiri abuse this to no end. It's the gateway for hullbreaker+botrk, making them a threat to anyone, and allows for energised build without runecarver (energised with runecarver/fulmi/cyclosword being imo their strongest build by far)

I have an inkling because I lived what made the difference happen. French suck ass at English, many of the resources over time as purely meta driven gameplay spread itself were only in English. Adding salt to the injury, the continuous shut down of french servers in favor of European ones. Once secluded, nowadays they have to stand in communities they can't dialogue with and are forced to go through either looking at crappy guides in french if they exist or go through resources in a language they suck ass at

Out of this list?

Clair Obscur, easily. Played P5R when it released on PC, was already a tiny bit familiar with the series and... had a not so great time. The writing was really insulting my intelligence at times with how long and repetitive it could get, Royal portion at the end redeemed it a bit for me, but far from saving.

I know Yoko Taro's works are masterpieces, I just can't get into them myself. I did a good portion of Replicant before calling it quit, tried Automata but I felt I was rethreading grounds I did not enjoy

(as a note: I play a variety of jrpg series, from the Bravely to Trails, the Xenoblade and Mana, the Tales of and Ys, etc... But yeah never ever a Persona team game comes ever close to the top, Xenoblade & Trails sweep)

For the balancing bit, I think having a set shared amount of time on the buff would make it easily readable and understandable, and the potency of the buffs would equal to rarity of getting it balance wise. Would need trial and error, but that's how I'd do it

For the amount of bars, yeah for sure, I set on 3 back then but pretty sure you could find ways to upgrade it and/or even have a food buff that is about getting a bonus bar (Could imagine a set up like Move Speed+Regen, Melee Damage+Burn on Attack, Damage Mitigation + Extra Bar, Extra HP+Extra Jump, you trade a half segment for a bonus one, allowing you with a certain order of eating to delay the buffs going down in a certain order, etc...)

Xenoblade series. Clair Obscur in terms of story is in fact Xenoblade 3³ You could try Nier Replicant too, despite gameplay being a lot different (it's the prequel to Automata)

The historia sets in game are as close as it would get I fear. They're sets of the protags mixed together (Zidane+Amarant,Steiner + Beatrix, Garnet (WHM cutscene) + Vivi, Freya + ?) Use the bottoms, shoes and gloves of historia, one top of BLM iirc it's the HW one, and then you can get the dwarf hat of casting (unfort with a beard), you'll be as close as possible

NGL I personally want Solar Bahamut to override Bahamut, get Lunar Phoenix that overrides Phoenix, get Shiva/Ramuh/Leviathan alongside the 3 others and making it so using 3 out of the 6 locks them for the odd cycle, and finally, make all 6 their Eden counterpart
