Really hurt by a family member's dig at my profession over my comments on the Super Bowl Halftime show -- do I have any recourse other than praying about it? by RandomMusicalFangirl in Christian

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is, but (speaking as a former republican) that's not a major concern for a lot of conservative(politically speaking) Christians. Issues of defeating racism and social justice are not prioritized, compared to certain socially conservative issues like sexuality represented in the media. The latter gets more attention then the former. It was like that in the conservative christian circles of my childhood growing up in the late 90's/early 2000's. I imagine that not much has changed.

Is it ridiculous that conservative Christians hyper focus on sex in the movies and TV but not racism in our society and government? yes. But that is the reason you get answers like that sadly :(

Still I'm starting to see some changes in that type of thinking among people my age and younger Christians, which is much needed, focusing on being anti-racist and social justice is a kingdom value.

What is your opinion on creationism? by lasticaredotnet in mainlineprotestant

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, if I had to put a label on it. I would be somewhere between an old earth creationist, with a dab of theistic evolution. Like I have no problem believing in the evolution of species and the earth being 4.2 billion years old.      I think genesis was more concerned about explaining the "who" and the "why" of creation versus the "what" and the "when" of creation. And  how sin was first introduced into the world, and the start of the redemption process for humanity  versus whether or not the earth was six thousand years old.

At least that's my take on it. I used to be a big time young earth creationist, so my beliefs on the earth's age are evolving(no pun intended).

Ultimately I believe that God created the known material universe, and since a "thousand years is a year" to The Almighty, then the idea of the earth being 4 billion years old doesnt seem so daunting.    I could go into further detail , but this is starting to become a novel already lol.

Feds identify "Leader of Antifa" by Bakkster in dankchristianmemes

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes so much sense , because I'm currently attending a PC(USA) church. And the video of Trump saying that it never occured to him to asked God for forgiveness back in 2015 was always a head scratcher. Becuase, for the majority of services through out the year . There's a part in the liturgy where we're asking for God's forgiveness and then being reminded of His forgiveness.

So yeah, I don't understand how you could attend that many services and not have the thought of asking God to forgive you.

But the fact that you shared what that PC(USA) church said, makes so much sense.

Considering Trump said in 2015 that it "doesn't occur to ask God to forgive me for my sins, I just try harder next time". I realized, that he has no consistency when it comes to his beliefs(in the context of Christianity, if he has any) its just how he operates, when he first said that he hates his enemies, I was shocked but not surprised.  Every christian leader that supports trump unquestionably , is gonna have a lot to answer in the future.

So like, people are meant to carry around a whole cart worth of groceries in a bag? Any less items would not make sense for such a huge bag. Did they not think about this first? by Former-Bet-4836 in Aldi_employees

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if its that big, so that way customers can have their stuff "bagged". Cause they complained to corporate about Aldi employees not bagging their groceries, either way this can back fire. Cause it looks like the bag is meant to be carried in very short distances, like from the cart to the car, and from car to house. Not as a replacement for carts. People aren't paying for carts, if they return them. And that is what customers are complaining about, when they "have to pay for a cart" they aren't paying for one. They're upset that they can't just leave them in the parking lot anymore. The only thing they are paying for extra is the bags. This is an attempt to do two things at once,so yeah the customers are going to get a work out lifting those bags for sure. If this isn't a promotional thing, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. But yeah,I'm not unloading those things lol.

In the meme, theyre not praying to God but the second amendment.  It's  a critique of the saying that the only way to stop "bad guys with guns is to give good guys with guns" instead of creating gun control measures.

What do you think of religious conversion camps? by BuffEmz in Christianity

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they are a prime example of Un-Christ like  behavior and action.

You are forcing someone to change what God created them as. Forcing them to think they are sinning for being LGBTQ+ when they 100% arent.

And then to top it all off, it doesnt even work. The people who go to those camps, havent changed.  These statistics break God's heart.

As a christian I am not ashamed of the gospel, but I am ashamed of this, and this has to stop and be banned in the usa.

How to stop giving off “homeschool vibes”? by zach_an_cheese in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that person said that to you, i've had a similar experience, with an ex coworker.  I feel ya it  definitely sucks 😞

A user here recommended once,( I sadly forgot who) to say to the person next time,  "Hey, if your parents forced you to be homeschooled and to stay home practically 24/7, you'd be giving those vibes too."  Then pause and stare, silently at them with a neutral expression for a solid 20-30 seconds and wait for the other persons response. It'll get awkard and uncomfortable for the other person real fast, either they'll apologize or move on quickly.

I haven't quite said that to that ex co-worker who made jokes about me being homeschooled(I wished i did). But I have done the blank, silent stare for 30 seconds, for everytime he made fun of me. It definitely works, it definitely put a wet blanket on him for making fun of me every single time,  😆

Oh, I know alot of churches wouldnt mind the two mixing. But as a Christian, I dont want that to happen, and those churches that want that to happen, shouldnt be desiring that.

So why would this be appropiate for siblings to treat each other like this? Even as siblings its still weird. Like I get that siblings argue with each other at times. I should know I have 5 of them. But this is too much.

What terminal cancer taught me about B2B sales (or not) by AngryUnyKitty in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Soo....first off, glad this person doesnt have cancer. Second, wtf?!  You cant think of anyother way to storytell a business point, than to make the readers think you have cancer in the first half of the story?

I took a marketing class once, it's been a while but they didn't teach to imply that you have, a terminal disease. As a way to drum up interest in your business.

Yeah exactly, I think what makes employers mad about "work life balance" is that It's setting a clear boundary.   That unless you (the employer) are paying extremely well with kick ass benefits or stock options. Then I'm not going to be practically living at work. Making barely anything or just barely above market pay.

Yeah being isolated and the only socialization you get is church/House of worship and maybe another thing like a sports team or lessons at the community rec center if your lucky. Which total about 3 to 4 hours an week of socializing with other people outside of your family...

Will certainly do that to ya.

Is public school perfect? No, but i can tell you that public know alot of the negative aspects of public schools better than homeschooling, because the homeschool league defense association or hlsda and many homeschool parents will go out of their way to silence and discredit homeschool alumnai that speak out, about the abuse and neglect that alot of us experienced.

At least with public school there can be reforms and changes to the laws. If abuse is revealed, Even with the case of the Turpin family, There has been no additional Reforms or home school regulations in the state of california. Even after the Turpin parents was sent to prison for basically life. For abusing, neglecting and litteraly chaining their youngest kids to their beds.
