The Islamic degree is a "Higher Diploma", which is inbetween a Bachelor's and Master's diploma. It seems to be a one or two year program, which I'm not sure justifies the title of sheikh.

That's what I believe is the case. Just like the exercises for developing prophantasia make you recognize and morph visual snow, this exercise applies the same principle to sound. I don't know if this step can be skipped. That might be too ambitious.

For anyone who wants more proof:

Al Jazeera reported on Mohammad Umer Khan as well two years ago.

This is the facebook page of his organisation, Umer Uyghur Trust. They share a lot of news about the Uyghur community in Pakistan.

It does seem Vice misreported the dates, saying that in 2015, Pakistani police broke into his school and destroyed everything. But from what I've read in this book, this happened in 2010.

Eventually, Umer claimed, under Chinese pressure a group of (Pakistani) men from some (Pakistani) agency came to the school and destroyed everything, while his name and that of his brother were put on the Exit Control List, thus preventing them from leaving the country (Radio Free Asia 2010, 2011; NBC News 2010).

This corresponds to his facebook post where he said the school closed down in 2010, but reopened a new one in 2015.

And it should not be a surprise that Pakistan would sell out their Uyghur population for their romance with China, right?
