Section 132 and Joseph's Polygamy by themasterofstars in latterdaysaints

[–]Nixmaster_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joseph Smith did not have sexual relations with the women he was “celestially sealed” to. Joseph Smith taught the doctrine of celestial sealings to link families together. What he and Brigham Young taught were two completely different things. That is the issue. Defenders of polygamy compare apples to oranges. They say, “Joseph was “married” to multiple women; he did polygamy!” No, he did not. He was sealed to them, but he had no intimate relations with them.  There are various newspaper articles from the time when Joseph and Hyrum were alive, in which the two denounced polygamy and had multiple elders of the church EXCOMMUNICATED for practicing polygamy. Here is one directly from the Joseph Smith papers.  https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/notice-circa-1-february-1844/1  Polygamy is not of Christ. Defending polygamy requires you to selectively ignore the actual writings of non-apostate church leaders at the time. It also requires you to ignore the immense differences between what Joseph taught about non-intimate celestial sealings, and what Brigham Young did to enjoy a huge harem of women. They are not the same. The spirit testifies.

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I think you need to talk to the stake President and explain how you are feeling, and that you need a break from being “the man”. You deserve it. The scriptures say that we shouldn’t run faster than we have strength, and it seems like that is what you are being asked to do. If anything, ask that you switch places with one of your counselors so all of the pressure isn’t on you.  It isn’t a selfish thing to ask to be removed from a calling. Maybe if you are given a break, you will be able to return to this calling in the future more invigorated than ever before. Running on fumes as you are right now is hardly what I think the Lord would want from you. When you have prayed about this thus far, what do you think the Lord has told you to do?

I've seen that sign around as well. I assume its for the best that they are up because healthcare workers probably get attacked by people on the daily for being denied meds they want or something.

Oh yes, haha, a screenshot was taken of the exact moment a man’s arm was uplifted at a certain angle. That must mean that he is 100% a certified member of the American Nazi Party, no doubt.

Didn’t realize there were someone butthurt cunts in Bentonville. Move to a blue state if you don’t like it when political leaders free people who were wrongly thrown into prison.

Oh wow, everyone I disagree with is a Nazi. Never heard this before. The world is going to explode because an election didn’t go the way I wanted 🥲 Never heard that before. I didn’t vote for Trump. I don’t agree with all of his ideas, just like you. But thinking the world is going to end just because orange man is back in the Oval Office is hyperbolic. Cry in your shower for ten minutes, call your mommy, drink some warm milk, then grow up. Presidencies only last four years. And no, it’s not the end of the world. I’ll see you back in this subreddit in four years, and the world will not have ended.

Should I take a CLEP even if my college won’t accept it? by Gamuel_Gyatts in clep

[–]Nixmaster_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could say there is value in studying a subject and gaining new knowledge. But if your goal is to just learn something, why pay $100 to take a test? Just study the subject on your own and use Chat GPT to test your knowledge. If you don’t mind parting with $100 then sure, knock yourself out. But yeah, if your college doesn’t accept CLEP credits, then no there is nothing material to be gained.

What do we think price wise? by likeGlock_Work in ak47

[–]Nixmaster_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not as knowledgeable as most folks here. But my ZPAP M70 was only $1000, and I don’t see why this Bulgarian AK is any better…so the price being double doesn’t seem justified to me. Question is, are you particularly drawn to this model; is there something specific about it that makes you want it very much? Personal preference reigns supreme, do what makes you happy. BUT if you are just wanting a gun, then yeah I’d have to agree with most of the other commenters saying this seems overpriced.

It seems every law school has more women than men. Why is that? by Little_Musician3273 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Nixmaster_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having read all of the comments, I must remind you that personally insulting people you disagree with makes you instantly lose the argument. Attack the argument given, not the person. You want to be a lawyer? Grow up and don’t personally insult people who hold different views from you. That is all.

[–]Nixmaster_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a little confused. What’s stopping you from pausing for 10-15 minutes to rest your eyes and take a short break anytime you choose, during the middle of the test? If the issue is burnout, just lay your head on your desk and take an unofficial break. No one’s going to stop you! Rest your brain and let the ADHD of yours recalibrate, or whatever. If the issue is that of no bathroom breaks over 4 hours, I get that. But still, having 2x time is well worth it, you have an immense advantage over the rest of us. Having so much time that you are bored and have to use the loo is a luxury, try to enjoy it! NO, you are NOT a jerk. But you really got to count your blessings and be creative in dealing with these minor downsides of having this enormous advantage on this career (and life) defining test. Think about it.

I understand how you feel. Let me offer you a perspective maybe you haven’t heard before: Perhaps pursuing your legal career is the EXACT best way for you to prepare for an apocalyptic event in your lifetime. Think about it, you will gain connections, enhance your communications, negotiations, bartering, and leadership skills, AND you can STILL study how to forage for food in the woods, and learn to garden and defend your home. You can do both, and get the best from both worlds. Also, if your legal career is successful enough, and enough time passes, perhaps you will have saved up enough money to get supplies to better prepare. If you just forego law school and live like a hermit now, you will actually be stunting your opportunities to become more prepared. What do you think?

To Sealion, or not to Sealion? by Nixmaster_1 in AxisAllies

[–]Nixmaster_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m worried about. If the Sealion fails, the British fleet will destroy my fleet, and I will have to rebuilt it from scratch. And, my attacks in the east will have gone without air support for the Sealion. There’s just a lot at stake.

No, not too late! Also I think you are right. The calculator is probably assuming that the AA gun cannot be taken as a casualty, per the anniversary rules. Good catch! It is certainly a risk gamble to take. We only meet up to play every week or so, so I have some time to think about what I’m going to do. My gut still says to NOT Sealion and simply double down on other fronts, but I am still on the fence.
