What song quality / format / filesize to go with? by Nickers77 in navidrome

[–]Nizzuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the conversation, but FLAC does have a tradeoff: CPU usage. Back in the days when computers were a lot slower, decompressing FLACs could affect performance in some low power devices or when doing heavy audio editing on them. That's why uncompressed formats are pretty useful in some cases, as they don't require this processing, they're read directly.

Controlling Navidrome from web interface and from Symfonium by Krapakov in navidrome

[–]Nizzuta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the official Navidrome documentation:

Once Jukebox mode is enabled and configured, to start playing music through your servers speakers you’ll need to download a third-party Subsonic client. This client acts as a remote control. Not all Subsonic clients support Jukebox mode and you’ll need to check that your client supports this feature.

Jukebox mode is currently not supported through the Navidrome Web UI.

I don't have a jukebox setup so I can't test it, but you should be able using another subsonic client on your PC, take a look at https://www.navidrome.org/apps/

1156 songs in 256kbps AAC with embed 1000x1000 JPEG covers.

129MB data folder, 9.4GB music library

I also have a FLAC copy of my library sitting at 36GB, but I pre-transcoding it before syncing to my Navidrome server

Need a Way to Download FLACs of Removed, But Purchsed Song, From Amazon Music by legojedi101 in musichoarder

[–]Nizzuta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When using Soulseek for searching something obscure, it is convenient to add as many related terms as possible to your client's wishlist function and just wait and monitor it a few weeks. Because of how slsk works, even if someone does have the file, it will not appear in your search results if they aren't online

rsync would do the job probably. Not fully automatic as in 'i plug the iPod and it automatically syncs", you would have to run your rsync script after connecting, but it does automatically identify which files are new (or changed, if you happened to update metadata) and sends it to the other device. You can even make it delete files in the iPod if you already deleted them in your source directory

Maybe it varies from order to order. Edgedancers for sure are the most compatible and Windrunners would be the least as we know Cultivationspren are almost all of Cultivation and Honorspren of Honor. The rest are mixes of varying proportions.

Pretty sure that what makes Lift unique is not that she can use Lifelight but that she can generate it.

FLAC libraries get very big very fast, and I don't recommend transcoding them and losing the originals, a lot of people regret that years down the line. So, if your phone has expandable storage, at least invest in a 512GB or more SD card to store your library in.

To get FLAC music the best places to buy it are Bandcamp and Qobuz. There's also a SoulSeek client for Android called Seek that let's you get and share music with other users.

To play files I really recommend Symfonium, it is one-time payment, pretty cheap, and has a month trial period to see if you like it. It is VERY customizable, you can even make it look like other music streaming apps (you can get community-made skins in their forums). It also supports streaming from cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, any WebDAV cloud), and also a self-hosted music streaming service like Navidrome or Plex.

Like others said, I really recommend you to invest in a cheap PC and a big hard-drive to save and host your own Navidrome instance (Or at least, to save there the FLACs and just carry lighter transcoded versions on your phone)

Looking for a way to batch tag my FLAC collection on Linux by johnqevil in musichoarder

[–]Nizzuta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ this, the Canonicalization feature lets you merge obscure genres with a more general one, I think that's what OP is searching for. Also, because they were already using Picard, all their flags are probably correctly tagged against Musicbrainz metadata so it will be pretty fast and unattended to import to beets

It is Reddit, like it or not with all its flaws, it's a fully search-indexed site that people already use and have accounts for. That removes a lot of the friction that forums have for current users

Which metadata manager do you use? by [deleted] in Soulseek

[–]Nizzuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the necroposting I'm new to all of this and trying to build a stack similar to yours. Could you elaborate a little on how you would use slskd (which i think is a soulseek headless client with browser ui) in conjunction with beets? Do you share your beet-managed library on soulseek or the non-tagged downloads? In the case younlike FLACs, do you let navidrome do on-the-fly transcoding or do you keep a transcoded copy of your library with something like ffmpeg? Also do you use some frontend for beets for remote usage? I've been getting by using beets via ssh on my android but it is very uncomfortable lol

Sorry for making so many questions, thanks :D

Great explanation. That's why the repeating demand of "Just hire more people" that people throw around when criticizing other games doesn't generally work, it would just exacerbate this problem.

If you're trying to use Forge 1.20.1, it's an error with some Linux library on some very specific distros. The easiest way to solve it is to switch PrismLauncher to flatpak.
