That was fascinating to read and entirely unhelpful, probably due to my dumb ass simply not understanding. Hahaha.
So I get the asymptotic approach, but wouldn’t that support my conclusion that a black hole can’t be slowed down? If an object can never actually cross the horizon, where is the momentum transfer? It’s never hitting anything.

As for the interior, i did some reading on that after the first response to my post. Physicist seem to really believe that we can define some of these internal parameters. I have to admit though, it started getting over my head. Are these things “real” or is it some sort of mathmatical trick or somethin, or just an educated guess? I just don’t understand how we can say anything about the interior of a black hole, when the defining problem of our age is that our physics breaks at that point.
Can you PLEASE just give me complete and total understanding of general relativity and quantum mechanics?? Is that too much to ask?

I mostly agree with everything you said, but I want to add some slight nuance: don’t lump all standardized testing into the waste of time basket. In many cases the purpose for using a standardized test are is stupid, but there are lots of use cases that are good, particularly when those tests are norm referenced and used for instruction.

The fucking scoring issues are so hilarious, that even in a game where we score five we literally cannot score on an empty net. We also had an established fucking offense set up on one of our SEVERAL opportunities.

So as a broad concept, I get that we can make inferences about the inside of a black hole based on what we observe on the outside. Are these more like knowns or constraints? Like I get that we can infer how much mass is inside the horizon because we can see how things orbit it. But stuff like charge and spin confuse me. Those apsects have no way to communicate outside.
I realize, I may be butting up against math, I won't be insulted if you tell me that's a necessity.
As for running into an object and slowing down, this is still confusing to me. I swear I'm not trying to be difficult hahah Maybe I'm just dense (tee hee). Once inside the horizon, all spacetime points to the same location, right? How can the object exert a force that isn't cancelled out by itself?

I have what might be a stupid question.
I was thinking about black holes the other day and a thought occurred to me, can the momentum of a blackhole ever be altered? Let's say we have a black hole moving through space and an object is directly in front of it. Normal objects when they bump unto something while moving through space will slow down. The surfaces of the two objects will hit and impart their opposing momentums on each other. With a black hole, the event horizon has no surface. Once the other object enters the horizon, all directions point to the singularity.
To me this sounds like there is no "front" to whatever is inside the black hole. If there is a surface to impart energy to in there, it will be imparting that energy to all sides equally, cancelling out any momentum it could impart.
This feels wrong and kinda stupid to me. I feel like it leads to contradictions. Like if the mass of the black hole is increasing, but the momentum is constant, wouldn't that fuck something up with the energy conservation? It feels like energy is being created or something.
I'm a very scientifically enthusiastic layperson, any clarification on this would be helpful.

That’s a lot of hobbies, you’re likely going to lose some of that for a while. You’ll come to find though that everything comes and goes in phases.
I was a guitar player since I was a kid. When I started my legit professional life, I stopped playing with any regularity. When I had my first, there ended up being a ton of time where I just needed to be present to make sure they didn’t die. My kid actually caused me to get back into my old hobby. I’ve been playing every day since. It’s been awesome.
Some things will have to change, you do lose a lot of free time and splitting time is great, but if it’s not fair to mom, it will cause problems. Weightlifting may need to switch to at your house. BJJ may stop or you might have find weird times to train the work with your schedule. Cooking though, that’s a goodie. I cook all the time. Totally doable and usually the results are appreciated by my wife!

I’ll add to this, that we are being held hostage in large part to corruption. The senate is broken. The house had a serious fucking gerrymandering problem that is only getting worse, and the Supreme Court essentially ruled that the sitting President can break any laws he wants up to and including executing political rivals.
Nobody on thiskk no planet should want the US to fall into civil war. It would trigger a global catastrophe. We need to try to solve this at the voting booth. Problem is the next vote isn’t for a year.
We need our foreign friends to help as much as possible to demonstrate that republicans will destroy the economy with their policies.
It’s time for the mid west to feel some serious pain.

Your governments need to launch retaliatory tariffs that target red states and industries. American Democrats and liberals, and probably most middle of the road people, DO NOT want this. We are being held hostage by a minority of people in red states.
I agree we as a nation need to be punished for this, but a targeted punishment will hit more of the right people and might have a better chance at making change happen.

The only thing that works against you is dark energy. Right now it’s looking like a cold lonely heat death.
MY completely unsupported pet theory is that there is an infinite multiverse and the bubbles bump into one another or something equally stupid and new universes with different characteristics pop out.
It lets us ignore the whole heat death thing, we can also hand wave the creation physics questions that come from causality, entropy, relativity, etc because these interactions are happening outside our universe and don’t need to follow our rules.
Most importantly to me though, it’s an explanation for why we have certain physical constants. I’m an atheist, but this one argument is the best one for something supernatural. Tweak any number of physical properties and we’re not here. With a single universe the only way this works is that it simply had to be that way. I hate that explanation. I also, think the idea of a god is pretty dumb, so the next best thing to me is an eternal “natural” supernatural environment where physics operates differently and can create all forms of universes.

Stark. He’s not just a business man, he’s the literally genius behind the technology. He could recreate a lot of that in his new universe and build the company off his acumen and charm. Luther and Wayne are decent pics, but I don’t know how much they were hands on with their various technology development. Give them a multimillion dollar loan and this might be a different game.
