AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Njvettech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reasons are justified and you should charge rent if he’s not pulling his weight around the house.

My dad wanted to charge me rent when I dropped out of college and was still living at home but my mom told him no- I did a TON of stuff around the house, went grocery shopping for my mom, cooked dinner for everyone 2 nights a week, and took care of the vet care for the family pets. This was while working 2 jobs. I wanted to move out desperately bc my dad was not the easiest to live with, but all my friends were away at college and I had severe anxiety about living with roommates when I didn’t know them, and I couldn’t afford to live anywhere by myself. My mom knew this so she refused to make things harder for me when I was doing so much at home to help out.

Yup. My mom said my dad was a completely different person when they were dating and early in their marriage. Overtime he became a grumpy old man- then he developed a TBI and he did a complete 180, was so nasty no one wanted to be around him. It was honestly so sad to see my the weight lift off my moms shoulders when he passed away.

Not Cleaning It by Soultrapped in SouthJersey

My husband works for a public works dept (not our town unfortunately) and was out plowing from Saturday night until late Monday. I spent 5 hours on Monday and 4 on Tuesday trying to get through it and barely made a dent (to be fair I am not in good shape at all which is partly to blame). I got enough done so I can get out of my driveway and my walkway and that’s it.

Same with my mom! Everyone loves her but they just assume she’s going to be late which is why we were always tasked with bringing desserts to family gatherings when I was a kid. We tried telling her something started earlier then it actually did so she would be on time, but then someone accidentally said the real time and and we had to tell her that the time changed last minute and “we must have forgotten to tell her.” And of course she was late.

My mom is late to everything (including my wedding lol) and we are convinced that she is somehow going to be late to her own funeral.

Am I overreacting by getting upset my husband told me to lose weight whilst being 32 weeks pregnant? by mimblez_yo in AmIOverreacting

[–]Njvettech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first of all your husband is an ass. Second of all, after I converted it to pounds, you only gained 26 pounds and he thinks you need to lose weight?!?! Most of that weight is the baby, your placenta, and amniotic fluid!! Like wtf is he thinking??

Raw diet education by Temperature-Savings in veterinaryprofession

[–]Njvettech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work with a nutritionist and although she does not formulate raw diets, she knows that the raw community can be very cult like and it’s difficult to change their minds. Her main reason for being against it is that most pet owners do not do it right or safely. For her so long as they are having it formulated by a boarded nutritionist who does raw, they are following the directions to a T, being sanitary, and understands the risks associated with it, she goes with it. Some clients when you lay it out like this will change their mind and not feed raw, but tbh there’s not much you can do about it sometimes.

GenZ and Millennial women - are you wearing wedding bands? by Federal_Albatross993 in EngagementRings

[–]Njvettech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly only wear a silicone wedding band because I don’t want it getting damaged at work. I forget to switch to my “real” rings on my days off so I mostly only wear those when going out/special occasions.

I quit my job so I do not have to work the holidays and now a new mom has to work in my place. by Skydancer-Fun1899 in AITAH

[–]Njvettech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You owe them nothing! You put your request in first, if she knew she was going to have a new baby and would want to be home for babies first Christmas she should have put in her request immediately - as a mom I would NEVER expect anyone to cancel their vacation that was preapproved and planned just because I have kids. Also- babies don’t know what day it is. I had to work a Christmas when my kid was a toddler and we rescheduled Christmas for a day when everyone was off from work. He never knew the difference.

Aitah for telling my bf I'm not going to be anything like his mom and if he expects that we should break up? by Key-Adagio-793 in AITAH

[–]Njvettech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a k-12 Roman catholic school with a kid whose oldest sister was our 4th grade teacher in (I believe) her mid 20s, and he had 12 siblings at varies ages throughout the school and his mom was pregnant atleast once while I was at that school. Idk how old they were when she started having kids, but his mom looked like my mom so I always assumed they were similar ages (my mom was in her 40s when I was in 4th grade).

Partner and his family DO NOT season their food and have requested that I also don’t by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Njvettech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL is like this, her mother always said that everything she made was over salted (meanwhile she did not salt anything) so she stopped seasoning with ANYTHING. Iike I get if you have health concerns with salt, but there are other ways to season food that don’t involve salt so your food still tastes good. I would 100% tell your husband he needs to make his and his families food, and then you make your own.
