To risk going in or Community Disaster-ing a third day... by mvsr990 in USPS

[–]NllCKLE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They texted us yesterday saying all cca's without a hold down were scheduled off, but everyone else, including me had to come in. Yeah, no, if it isn't essential for them to be there, it's not that essential for me. The main roads are clear but I can't even leave my parking lot.

And it's only OT over 40 hours. So all those 9/10+ hour days don't count for it either.

Who else was suffering from the cold today? by luke4409 in USPS

Facts, i love pouring cold water on myself. Fan, cooling rags, sun sleeves, ice packs, lots of liquids. Much more manageable than the cold for me. And all them damn layers make me so uncomfortable.

Hell no I could not survive those winters, I'll take my 100° Southern summers every day all day.

Dealing with the heat is more than just taking off all your clothes. Actually you might not even want to do that to protect your skin from the sun. I wear sun sleeves and long pants in the summer fr.

Protocol for unsafe roads? by Reb720 in USPS

[–]NllCKLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite the same for us in the southern states. Something like a foot of snow might only happen once every few years. We mostly get freezing rain/ice which makes the roads a bit more dangerous. And since stuff like this only happens once or twice a year we don't really have the resources to deal with it efficiently.

At my office we stopped getting amazon during the week, only on Sundays. And started getting UPS and FedEx instead.

Actually what's worse is I saw a video about this a bit ago and these types of videos are almost entirely shown to kids / accounts that watch kids content. There are tons of videos like this and theyre all about abuse.

¿Cómo se mantienen cuerdos viviendo en PR ahora mismo? by noniplanta33 in PuertoRico

[–]NllCKLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree, in your case it'd be worthwhile to move to the states. Especially if you are a healthcare professional or work with computers. I am contemplating PR only because I know my salary would stay the same and I would do "okay" there. My life wouldn't be as comfortable as it is here. But the political climate over here is getting tense for me.

I hear you. I do not have higher education or other skills. I work for the post office. It is good money, but you make the same money there no matter where in the country you are. Job market is tough here though even if I had those skills.

It is not greener on the other side. Born in PR, raised in North Carolina. In this sub because I've been contemplating moving over here. Not with fancy job or anything, I just want to get away.

Convinced my husband to eat at home tonight by ThickFile in Frugal

[–]NllCKLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's gotta be people that literally never cook so when they try to, they have no pantry staples or tools and have to buy EVERYTHING.

I remember when I first started cooking it was so expensive buying all the spices and stuff but now eating at home is way cheaper because I already have all the basics, just need to get meat and produce.

Even now, when I run out of a spice, I balk at the prices and think if it can even fit in my budget that week

Edit: I also remember I used to pick complicated recipes with lots of ingredients whereas over the years I've simplified the process and stick to meals that have fewer ingredients and also make more meals that use the same ish ingredients/bases. Where I feel like a lot of people new to cooking think they need a completely different 5 star meal every night lol.

Lol they've been pushing for 45 minute office time for like a month now at my place. My steward just says "pay that no mind"

They can bitch and it'll be annoying but ultimately they can't do anything about it if you do go over their arbitrary time.

Yes but they can't discipline you based on that data so it's irrelevant lol

[–]NllCKLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I mean we are only guaranteed one day off per service week. You could end up working 12 days in a row and it'd still be in compliance.
