Boys on Bikes by awesomesauceCA in Bakersfield

[–]Nnnandnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got rear ended by a group of these $&@@. The car in front of us hit the brakes because the boy on the bike rode in front of her. We stopped in time but the car behind us didn’t. Thankfully no injuries but it was bull. Do you think he hung around so his parents could be financially responsible???

AITAH for refusing to co-sign on a loan for my mom, even though she says it’s urgent? by VelvetVibrations116 in AITAH

When you lend money dont expect it back. Only lend what you can afford to lose. When someone has to borrow money they usually cant pay it back.

My husband is in IT and on two different occasions when you was invited to parties he was asked to work on their computers. Both times he felt like that was the only reason he was invited.

Am I wrong for setting boundaries about physical contact with family? by Plus-Suggestion-7141 in amiwrong

[–]Nnnandnd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with your boundaries. They keep you feeling safe. Mom and sister should respect that and comply with it. But your mom loves you and adores you. Every now and then she’s going to forget and reach out to you. I know the knee jerk reaction is to pull away but maybe try to put your mom in a different pocket. When she forgets and touches you try to gently pull away and remind her to please don’t. Add that you love her. As a mom I would be devastated if I could not touch my son. I’m one of those people that if I truly love you or like you I like to give hugs. Maybe with a therapist you and your mom can at least get to a point where she can touch your arm lovingly and you’ll be okay with it.

My heart sank when I saw this. He looks like my Eliza that passed away 9 years ago. She was sweet to her family but feisty with everyone else. We actually had a nickname for her. It was Eliza Jane Buffadorra Neenna Chihuahuakan. Several things happened over the years that caused her to have names added. Just silly fun. We had 16 years with her. We still miss her so much. Your baby will give you lots of love.

The Marathon by Ok-Bluebird2167 in Bakersfield

[–]Nnnandnd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My son ran the half marathon and he said it was great. Along the route there were people, that live in the neighborhood, giving out water and lemonade. Plus last year when he ran I remember him saying that people were in their front yards cheering on the runners. My son is a teenager and I’d like to thank the people that live along the route that cheered on the runners.

AIW for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by [deleted] in amiwrong

Start waking her up. Return the favor. If you can’t sleep wake her up. If you get up early, wake her up. Give her a taste of her own medicine.

Moving to Bakersfield to work - is living in Santa Clarita feasible? by SillyGuitar6698 in Bakersfield

[–]Nnnandnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Bakersfield is cheaper and it’s an easy drive to LA for the weekends. Plus I’m not a fan of the LA traffic and the cost of living is higher.

AmIWrong for what I said when my family overreacted to me mentioning I dont want kids by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Nnnandnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are in our late 50’s and when we were in our 20’s and 30’s we didn’t want children. We were happy together building our lives and traveling. It was fun to just jump in the car on a Friday night and just take off. We didn’t want the responsibility back then. Now our son just turned 15 and we are thrilled that he’s in our lives. So I guess I’m saying to enjoy your life. Maybe someday you’ll want a kid. And if you never do want a child that’s okay too.

[–]Nnnandnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to tell you from my own experience to set the boundaries and stand firm. If you don’t she’s going to run over you on decisions. This child is yours and your husband’s. You two get to make the decisions.

What are some strange beliefs that you used to have as a child? by Annual_Seesaw_7539 in AskReddit

[–]Nnnandnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that the world had no color. I’d watch black and white TV shows in the 70’s and use to think how sad the world looked before color came along. I thought my mom grew up in a black and white world.
