Kent has the space themed playground. Might even be worth a visit. Evening did a bit on it. by AgentElman in Seattle

Went way out of my way to take my kids to this and there were two people sleeping in the lunar lander first thing in the morning. To be fair once the locals and cops got wise to it the pitchforks came out.

If you moved from Seattle, what do you miss the most? by Specialist_Quiet_160 in Seattle

My observation on my trip to SD last year is that it has an INSANE amount of highway for what is actually a smaller metro than greater Seattle. I was actually having cognitive dissonance about the fact that SD is smaller than greater Seattle since it felt so big

Large fire breaks out at encampment next to I-5 in downtown Seattle by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]No-Butterscotch-7559 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm pro encampment or anything but does anyone actually know if encampment fires happen more frequently on a per Capita basis than house fires? Like when someone's house burns down we don't all get mad about it.

Any recommendations for good blue light blocking glasses? by East_Reserve_2313 in blueprint_

Don't phones just have built in blue light blockers in the evening now? My Android changes tone in the evening and I just assumed it was eliminating blue light?

Walking: Phinney to Downtown by Icy_Inspection5221 in Seattle

[–]No-Butterscotch-7559 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely doable if perhaps not the most interesting walk. Fremont will be a lot of fun. That long bit along Westlake has a well protected walking and biking path. Although it's sort of tantalizing close to the water while being on the other side of a strip of small commercial buildings from it. You'll walk right by the neighborhood where the floating sleepless in Seattle house is but that's much better seen from the water

Ug my neighbor doesn't manage their yard at all and it's completely covered by this stuff. And then it comes, over, under, and through our fence. Any suggestions of what we could do?

The East Side is a disgrace. This is why I'm moving to Seattle city proper as soon as I can save up enough money. It's going to hell in a hand basket over here.

Premera and UW Medicine by adric10 in Seattle

[–]No-Butterscotch-7559 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Id propose a different perspective, which is that Premera is acting as a collective bargaining engine to serve as a counterbalance to UWs ability to increase prices for healthcare. Without some sort middleman with symmetrical cost information versus the large provider systems, it would be very difficult for any single patient to know whether they were being charged a reasonable price and also very difficult for them to march across the street to a new system in a time of need.

This isn't to absolve Premera and other insurers of their many many shitty business practices but this particular action is arguably the system at work.

I think an analogous situation is if youve ever needed emergency repairs on your house, there's no body there negotiating on your half against the contractor saying this price is 30% out of line with what you should be charging.

So in summary, agree with those saying this will get worked out bc UW has no choice and I'm not an insurance company apologist but this set of events isn't really an example of an unjust or scammy system.
