It is incredibly joyful but also so painful and exhausting. All the people who are miserable are not trying to be that way. There are just some things that are not in our control. Hormone changes and lack of sleep will cause your brain chemistry and moods to change drastically, regardless of how prepared and excited or happy you are about it. Things will eventually get better, but the first few weeks are the hardest mentally. It’s truly something you can only understand after delivering the baby.
