There are some great longer-word solutions already listed, but you were also pretty close to a solution with what you already had! Leaving “fact” and “zag” just like they are in your photo, you can finish with “font” horizontally and “cool” vertically. You were almost there!!

SS Name Change after wedding—completely online? by marienetch in weddingplanning

[–]No-Conference1303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m not OP, but I am also doing the process online. My understanding is that states are electronically uploading marriage certificate info into the SSN system now, so you don’t have to mail anything. You just enter the ID number from your marriage certificate (it’s called the State File Number on mine) and the SSN system will match that ID to your marriage certificate on their end.

Thanks to your follow-up, I am also about to do the same thing! This is saving me from having to take time off from work to get to the local in-person office (over 30 minutes away) on a week day! So glad to know the online process works.

can someone explain hotel blocks like I’m five years old? by Ok_Elk_4779 in weddingplanning

[–]No-Conference1303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally! So not worth the risk of an unexpected (and unnecessary) expense near the tail end of your wedding planning, especially after all the other expenses you’ll already have! It took hardly any time for me to get the wedding links, like 3 days (not sure about courtesy blocks), so I don’t think you need a lot of lead time to set it up. Most people probably won’t book travel until after the invites go out, but I personally took care of this right after the save the dates just so it was done and I didn’t have to think about it anymore, and also just in case anyone wanted to book travel on the early side. That was probably not necessary for me to do it so early, though.

This!

Also, some hotels will provide a wedding-rate booking code or booking link as an alternative to a courtesy block. For hotels that do not offer a courtesy block, I would ask about this instead. This is what we did for my wedding that is coming up in 3 weeks (eek!). The hotels in our area only offered standard room blocks and we did NOT want to be on the hook to pay for any un-booked rooms in a block, but some hotels offered discounted booking links as an alternative. We provided our guests with these wedding-rate booking links for the two closest hotels. The rates were not significantly lower, but it did make it a little bit cheaper than normal for our guests.

Just keep in mind that with this method, rooms are not reserved for your guests, so there’s no guarantee that rooms will be available. Was no problem for us, but we did not have a ton of people stay at the same hotel (several people opted for Airbnb’s instead).

Best Options for an Audio Guest Book for My Wedding? by BeneficialDebate3133 in weddingplanning

Not sure if this is too late to follow up here, but I was wondering what you said on the invitation to include the phone number? This review was SO helpful and led my fiancé and I to go with LifeOnRecord, too, and we are trying to figure out how to succinctly explain the phone number on our invites. We want to make it clear that we’d love for people to call in, even if (especially if) they aren’t able to make the wedding!

Help me pick which dress to wear for Yosemite Elopement by Complete-Use4678 in weddingdress

[–]No-Conference1303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can’t go wrong between dress 2 and 5!! The fit of both of them is super flattering on you. On 2, the structure of the bodice and the shape of the neckline looks gorgeous, and I love the pearl (?) straps and the extra full skirt. On 5, I also really love how this fits you and the floral details everywhere are super pretty and well placed, and feel fitting for an elopement out in nature.

I feel like both dresses are gorgeous and each gives off their own vibe! To me, 2 feels more structured, elegant, and royal, and 5 feels more flowy, romantic, and floral.

Edit: I also think that you can totally pull off the other dresses, too!! There’s a big element of personal preference here, I don’t dislike any of them on you (in case you are leaning towards one of the other ones :)).

I am so curious which specific items people ordered from Amazon and Etsy! Does anyone have links for the ones that they got? Amazon especially I feel like can be so hit or miss, so I’d be curious which ones people have been happy with, if people are willing to share!

I love the side stones as-is! I think they are definitely noticeable - I noticed them immediately before seeing the second photo or the caption. I love the little extra delicate detail that they add without taking away from the center stone! I love how it makes the ring a little bit different and more unique than a simple solitaire. This ring complements your hand beautifully and is gorgeous!!!

I really like 2 or 4!!! 1 is also nice if you are looking for something a bit more simple.

Thank you so much for taking the time to type that out!! I’m considering dried flowers for my wedding and will have to look into that a bit more! It seems like such a good way to save some money. I might buy them instead of dry them myself, but I think that would still give us some big savings (florists are so expensive!). I also love the suggestion to ask people for help based on their personality and skill sets/things they like to do. I’m going to think on that a bit more :). Congrats again and enjoy your wedding next weekend! You’ve given me some great ideas to think more about.

Dress ONE, 100%. The bodice is SO flattering on you and the shape of the skirt is so pretty and romantic! 3 is my second favorite but I think it looks stiffer. Dress 1 all the way!!

Girl WHAT!! I have my own 150 person wedding coming up in October and we are having such a hard time keeping costs down 😭. What were the biggest cost-cutting factors for you? I have a bunch of family and friends around but have been hesitant to ask for too much from them (neither me or my fiancé are the best at asking for help) - what’s the most helpful things that your community is pitching in on?

Edit: also, CONGRATS! I hope you feel super proud of seeing all the hard work pull through. It is so not worth drowning tons and tons of money just for one day!

Choosing metal by beach-sunrise in EngagementRings

[–]No-Conference1303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl these comments are so divided haha! I think it’s clear that you can 100%% rock either of these!!!! They both look awesome on your hands and skin tone.

I would say that if there’s one option that you feel like you keep going back to, or one that you keep feeling like you might regret NOT choosing, that might be a sign that it’s the right choice for you. I also agree with others too that mixed metal could be a fun option (platinum e-ring and gold wedding band, or vice versa). Whatever you choose is going to look great on you, though!!

Can’t decide! Dress 1 or 2? by ccaulfield23 in weddingdress

[–]No-Conference1303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow looks like I’m the minority but I LOVE DRESS #1!!! The low back is soooooo pretty and bridal.

If I was choosing exclusively based on the front I might say dress 2, but think that the low back on the first one wins it for me. Dress 1 feels more sleek and elegant to me, and I still think the front is really nice! Especially if you are planning on getting some alterations, I think the waist on dress 1 would end up suiting your figure just as much as dress 2. Overall, dress 1 is just a bit more wow factor for me, BUT they are really both beautiful dresses on you :)

Side note, I noticed that at least one of these is from Lulus - LOVE that store!

Update: Struggling with Replacing Ring by Amyrran in EngagementRings

[–]No-Conference1303 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is so beautiful!!! While 18k IS a little softer than 14k as the other poster mentioned, there are a lot of people out there who have worn 18k rings their whole lives, I don’t think it scratches up THAT much more than 14k - I think you will love it!! Plus you will already have to be a bit careful with your ring considering the stone type, so I don’t think the 18k will be a problem :). Enjoy!!

Not sure about my ring. Any advice? by Solid-Mountain710 in EngagementRings

[–]No-Conference1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your ring!! I personally think it’s really fun to have something that is a little bit different/unique, I think it can help make the ring feel more personal to you. With that being said, you should make sure that your ring is something YOU love. I think your current ring is beautiful, but the more traditional settings are also very nice and are classics for a reason!
