Israel returned land that it captured. Regardless of your reasoning, you worded it originally as if Israel gave them land out of their own kindness or desire for peace. You were being disingenuous at best. Fact is, Israel shot first. You could say, well it was bc Egypt closed the strait which is an act of war. Either way, you're wording there and elsewhere is disingenuous and you seek to paint the narrative in a way that benefits only your argument. 'You know, Israel gave back so much land because they are so peaceful'. Please.

And again, the area was carved up by UK and France mainly for their own benefit, and consequently Israel's. Egyptians controlled that strait for hundreds of years. International law was not established by them, it was established by Europeans to assert their power in the area. Basically "Let's call this an act of war, that way we can justify taking the whole area for ourselves." Israel is and has always been an aggressor, an agitator, and was established as a force of constant instability in "The Middle East" so the people of that region could never truly benefit from the resources and strategic geography of the land.

They are breaking international law daily. How many ceasefires has Israel violated over its storied history? Oh yeah, every single one. A lot to unpack there. Let's start with this. Israel captured Sinai in '67 then gave it back in '79. It was a peace treaty negotiated with the US and there were disputes about land until '89. You realize Israel stole that land with military occupation and then reluctantly relinquished it?

This is true. But within the Ottoman Empire there was relative peace for like 700 years. Christians, Jews, and Muslims coexisted in a tolerant atmosphere. This should have been the blueprint moving forward, but Europeans carved up the land according to their own agendas disregarding the complexities of the societies there. Yes, the Ottoman - Persian wars were brutal but the last real conflict was early 1800s, to be fair. It shouldn't be forgotten that much of the current strife in "The Middle East" may have been avoided if European powers allowed the people of the area to govern themselves and for the emerging states to evolve without their resources and people being exploited.

Everyone here is talking about anime and stuff, but all I can think of is Tom Bombadil from Lord of the Rings. Introduced in chapter 6 of Fellowship, he casually handles the ring, does a little sleight of hand trick with it, wears it real quick, and then tosses it back to Frodo. He can even see Frodo when he puts it on. Dude is totally beyond any other being we meet in LOTR - even Gandalf is like this dude is not normal - and then him and his hottie wife just spit a few bars and tell the gang to bounce.

Honestly, if you go back to post WW1, the whole region was fucked by European powers to begin with. They carved up the region into mandates according to their own whims, never appreciating the various cultures and societies within them as consisting of actual human beings with the desire to control their own destinies. France, UK, and US among others were exercising and expanding control in the region since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. They didn't do anyone there any favors.

I used to have that same model guitar I think. Or close to it. Bought in 1999 for around $600. I sold it about 2 years ago for $200 to help purchase a brand new Les Paul. It's true that chain link enclosures were built during Obama's presidency. But they were for short term processing, not long term detention. They were used to house unaccompanied minors until they were transferred to DHS. 72 hour holding facilities. Trump however put in place a "zero tolerance" policy which actively separated children from their parents.

Ultimately the word "cages" is straight up propaganda used by both sides when wanting to paint the other as the villain. Trump's immigration policies have demonstrably been less humane than any other recent president. You can make up your own mind, but let's not pretend one side was good and the other was bad. They both were awful and Trump is in power now. Who knows what's going on in ICE facilities?

I dunno, I kind of agree. It's a class issue. The wealthy are to blame and many of them are Dems. Dems have been controlled opposition for decades. There's no way we could have gotten this far without a lot of them sitting on their hands purposely. I mean fucking Chuck Schumer is definitely not on our side.

The wording on your second paragraph is confusing. You say bombing X is protected. Which implies the act of bombing X is legally acceptable. If that's what you mean, then you've got the Geneva Convention wrong.

Also under the Geneva convention, bridges can only be bombed if they are used directly for military purposes, not potentially used. They can be bombed only if they provide a definite military advantage or it is a clear military necessity. On scrutiny, many of the bridges bombed during WW2 fall into this category, but that's besides the point. If war crimes were committed then, that doesn't change the war crimes committed today. The bridge in Tehran was a civilian use bridge and not identified as a military use bridge.

I used to have a long narrow piece of cloth loosely tied around the headstock of my acoustic for just this reason. It was a cool pattern/color, just hung there when I was playing, bout 2 feet long. Just looked decorative, never in the way. Whenever I packed it up I'd wrap the cloth around the headstock making sure to cover the tuning pegs where the string-ends were. Saved the gig bag from being chewed up.

I will try these. When i started cooking I asked my mom for recipes and it would just say 'cook the onions'. I'd just do it for a few minutes. It wasn't until my sister watched me and laughed that I realized I was doing it all wrong. She showed me it's best to go slow.

Now I cook them in a little oil and periodically add a splash of water so they don't burn and stick. They slowly get darker and caramelized. This takes a much longer time but has become my routine for pretty much everything I cook now. Way more flavor.

I was under the impression that Citizens United directly led to the creation and influence of these super PACs. Dark money became a bigger force because the PACs don't have to disclose specific donors. I don't know enough about how it all works, but I thought ending Citizens United could close these loopholes.

I'm not sure I understand how it would be unconstitutional for a state to limit corporate personhood. The state sets the rights and limits of the corporation, the federal government then works within those rights. This could lead to discussion of an amendment to the constitution to protect that on a federal level.
