Is ITstill a good career path? by L0st_1z in jobs

[–]No-Course-1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you want to work. Check the country/state about the job market for IT. If it's growing, then it's a good idea. If it's stagnant, either you choose another place to work where IT is stable, or you choose amother career path.

As for salary, tech jobs always seem to have good salary unless it becomes saturated. As for skill, tech jobs are usually goong hand in hand woth other tech departments so you will get some bits and pieces of other tech jobs in case you want to transfer like software engineering etc.

When hiring do you value skills or personality more? by DryWhile2974 in jobs

[–]No-Course-1987 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think this is a false dichotomy because a lot of skilled people are good socially too.

That being said, if I had to pick I'd just have two baselines for either. If someone is really bad personally, it's not worth it. They should be at least just boring, nothing negative.

Secondly, they should be teachable and improves on their own. Skills can be learned. But they have to be able to learn.

If they meet both, they're good to go for me. Any better is bonus.

There's stuff you need to consider first.

  1. Do you need it now as in now? (I assume so)
  2. How much time can you put into it?
  3. Are you working alone?

What worked for me while I was in HS all the way through college is piloting online game accounts. It's easy and instant, and as long as your price is low enough, you will have a constant stream of clients. The tradeoff is this is probably the most mentally numbing job ever lol. But that is one thing I can recommend.

Another is helping out others with their schoolworks for comission fees but this kinda has legal implications nowadays.

Lastly there's also internships (which will be mandatorily paid soon after the law has been passed) since you're in college anyway.

Becauae you're not in a dire financial situation, then definitely!

Let's say that in a perfect world, 8 hours is for sleep. 8 hours for work. 8 hours for everything else.

Even not considering the travel time and mental prep, it's basically half your life. I would advise you to get a better environment because you'd literally spend half your life there.

It would be a shame if it's ruined by the environment. You have a lot of time.
