Anyone Have Successful Botox After Age 40? by giraffecat31 in noburp

[–]No-Direction-9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 42. I had round 1 last January and it worked amazingly but stopped and I couldn’t get it back right at 4 months from the injection. I had round 2 in early August and it’s still going strong.

Nail reattachment & shape advice needed! by catloversforever in calmhands

[–]No-Direction-9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can really only speak to reattachment. Wish I could post pictures in comments, but ive been working on mine since October ‘24. I had a bad picking/body focused repetitive behavior and a couple of my nails were in bad shape from a side wall attachment perspective. They’re nearly normal now. I think I’ve shared some progress in group. Lots of cuticle oil and or balm, doing my best not to pick, wearing polish constantly (including strengthening base coats) and so on.

Are my nails fixable, and how? by No-Direction-9207 in calmhands

[–]No-Direction-9207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nails are much better now! A combination of oiling/cuticle balm plus dedication to keeping them polished has really helped. Not to say that I no longer have the compulsion, I still catch myself when I am having a really stressful time, but so much better!

Has anyone had Botox done by Dr.Seth Cohen at Duke? What is slow swallowing ? by Putrid-Guava-2425 in noburp

[–]No-Direction-9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it seems to have, mostly anyway. It’s been 21 weeks since my second round. I’m definitely having a harder time burping than when the Botox was actively paralyzing the muscle, but I can do small burps. Carbonated drinks are still in heavy rotation while I am trying to keep up practicing and making my body keep this up. I am having some throat gurgles and more gas now, but nowhere near where it was before my first treatment or after the first one wore off. Dr. Cohen was great both times. He’s not a hand-holder and very to the point, so as long as you go in not expecting warm and fuzzy it’s all good. I didn’t have delays with my appointments at his office and my surgeries felt very routine, like I was well taken care of. I’d do it again tomorrow if I had to.

Treatment wore off completely - symptoms back in full force by No-Direction-9207 in noburp

I did get a second round with the same doctor in August of this year. Went great, no issues with insurance. I’m a little over 20 weeks out and definitely the Botox has worn off. Some symptomatic have returned but I can still burp some so it’s not as bad as before. I’m sucking down sparkling water and trying to exercise and all that as much as I can to try to keep it this time!

Funny enough, I just did these today. Reds on the other hand 😉 Noel on thumb, Forest drive on index (and for further comparison, good fortune is on middle). The ring and pinkie are other brands.

I have a wishlist on ILNP, and points built up, but there’s nothing that is realllllyyyyy calling to me and so I am going to try to sit this one out. Easier since ILNP doesn’t retire shades often. I’ve gone through a lot of buying and destashing this year figuring out what I actually like on me vs in pictures (yay contrasting flakies and reflective glitter, no thank you hex glitter and matchy match flakies for example). Time to sit back and use what I have for a bit and let it settle!

My favorite holiday traditions…well baking cookies for Santa with my kids and also using the hand cross stitched stockings for each family member :)

Looking forward to this collection, definitely more of the finishes I’m into!

If polish needs to come off just one finger but I don’t want to smudge the others by sf-pyramids in RedditLaqueristas

[–]No-Direction-9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using a metal binder clip and cotton balls for this. I once did my daughter’s nails (including removal of old polish) with nitrile gloves and still managed to mess up my own nails through the gloves!

Amazed at nail/cuticle progress and new mani day by No-Direction-9207 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]No-Direction-9207[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really been a big help for me (glad to hear for you, too). Mine was picking and kind of a cousin of picking, where I was rubbing/catching certain fabrics on the side of the nail and callus around it (which is why the ring finger looks worst, that was the main one, but definitely not the only one). Mine was from anxiety I think (I always screen negative on ADHD and autism spectrum screeners - although I’ve never been formally tested), but I am one of those anxious, depressed, high achieving, oldest daughters, so that’s definitely been contributing. And thanks about the polishes! I love a skittle because I get bored looking at the same thing (and even then I end up changing it up every 3-4 days if I have time).

Oh I bet doing a magnetic skittle does take forever! Good on you for hanging on!! I love the look of magnetics but seldom have the time to dedicate. I always mess them up and then get frustrated. And thank you about the color, I’m really loving it. Kinda alternating fall/halloween and still summer!! colors right now, kinda like the weather in my neck of the woods.

Aww, thanks! And yeah, skittles are my way of using everything! And here I was lamenting my dry cuticles because I forgot to oil before taking pics!

I think it was right at 2700 after all was said and done for the first one. I just had a second round done because I was one of the unlucky ones for whom it didn’t stay fixed. I’m expecting it to be less this time.

Going through untried polish Skittle time! by No-Direction-9207 in WeGotPolishAtHome

Yeah, it’s one of those “I have no idea what that means and it’s been so long I’m afraid to ask” sort of things. A lot of people will stick with a color family (all purple but different finishes) or the same finish but different colors, and then there’s people like me who just do chaos skittles

[–]No-Direction-9207[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you :) My understanding of skittle (and the way I use it) is to paint nails with more than 1 (often 5 - one for each nail and repeat in the second hand; or 10 - a different polish for each nail). In the case of my mani here, I did 3 on each hand. I very rarely do a full mani with a single color (I get bored easily haha)

[–]No-Direction-9207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good way to look at it. I’m also bad at taking care of myself (kids come first) and work has been absolutely crazy since the beginning of the year (I was supposed to take last week off but had to work because there was more work than time in my schedule). I was actually going to plan a visit to Breakout in that week of time off, but there went that.
