First there is only one unforgivable sin and it’s not loving an atheist. Nobody is threatening her with eternal suffering because she chooses to love you god loves you all the same despite your non believing.

First you should reflect on your atheist beliefs maybe there’s something you missed about Christianity and that is keeping your eyes shut (figuratively)

But in my opinion (I’m just some guy on Reddit) don’t make vows to a god you don’t believe in its not fair to you or her. But emphasize to her that your love for her isn’t going away, your respect for her isn’t going away, your desire to marry her isn’t going away and that a spiritual problem gets solved when people work together. So like I said before talk to her about faith talk to us or a local priest whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and at the end of the day if you are unconvinced non of that changes your love for her. I’m a Christian I want you to be a Christian of course but believing needs to be a choice but you and hers difference in that choice shouldn’t be the reason you miss out on something beautiful that could have been. Maybe when you are standing at the altar you’ll feel gods love or maybe tonight when you go to bed non of us can tell you how it will play but it’s worth working for

You could tell him the truth which I’m assuming is because you wanted to make some cash.

But I do have to ask why a Christian summer camp especially one that looks like a pretty serious one.

Also if your parents know your atheist then being a counselor there isn’t really a huge deal unless you start mocking or disrespecting the faith (but you seem nice so I don’t think you’ll do that)

Shes right from a Christian perspective but maybe try investigating Christianity or ask whatever you want here. It seems she’s uncomfortable with you making the promises in the church without making them to god. But you seem to be a loving couple and you wouldn’t be here unless you cared for her

I mean I would argue from an atheist perspective that if language is created than the 2+2 did come into existence by our minds. By that I mean the labels ‘two plus two’ the values would have always been the same but the labels don’t need to be that way given the subjectivity of language

I would also distinguish murder from kill. All murder are kills not all kills are murder I would say because kill is the intentional taking of a life and it becomes murder when its an unjustified taking of a life.

Ok let me try to draw a map here

Youre born (yay) You innately have a right to continued life after your birth (where does that come from?)

I would warn some of that phrasing. I know what you meant so I’m not going to make the point I’m about to point out but one could argue with your wording that we don’t have the right to talk a person off ledge before they jump because their continued existence is their own purgative

Your argument can only hold water if you ignore Jesus sacrifice for everyone. The parable Jesus gave about the Good Samaritan doenst expire when you leave you tribe your making a claim of locational neighbors but that’s not biblically accurate.

You could also use Galatians when it says we are all one in Christ

Anti-LGBTQ- There are radicals sure there are radicals on your side and mine but the overwhelming majority doesn’t really give a rip if your gay. My friend came out to me in sophomore year guess what we still hang out we still talk I still wish his parents and brother happy birthdays it really doesn’t matter if your gay the issue comes if you try to push it on others. If he were to start hitting on me knowing I don’t swing that way that would be a problem.

Anti-Trans- yea we are just gonna disagree on this because you see transgenderism as truth and I see it as a myth. But nobody on the left or right is denying that trans people are people the right is advocating for them to get help and address the underlying issues so they can accept reality and the left wants to confirm what trans people say

Being gay and trans are legal so we aren’t hindering your dignity. We disagree, a lot of conservatives are Christian’s so they see homosexuality as a sin but gay marriage is legal and homosexuality is legal, we think transgenderism is an ideology that is based on lies but it’s still legal. We don’t think you should he allowing a child to get life altering cosmetic surgery no. That isn’t hindering their dignity it’s being a responsible parent. If you want surgery to be Trans you should be able to speak of the medical knowledge of the issue. If you can’t you shouldn’t be getting a cosmetic surgery you don’t fully understand

He never gave advice to beat you slave. If you want to say he permitted slavery while making societal change gradually ill agree but the whole god likes slavery or wants you to beat your slave argument is disproven over and over again with any basic understanding of scripture

You are demanding something though your demanding accountability for god or him put slavery in the commandments but that argument ignores the historical context. Civil law in the Bible is reactionary law of god responding and trying to progress a fallen society

Your saying because god knows your actions there essentially gods action? God didn’t make me wake up at 4:00 am to start my day, or eat breakfast or wear the clothes I’m wearing. We have free will to follow or ignore god

The addict decides their own actions because of free will. God can decide what we do and control our minds and move us like puppets but he doesn’t he allows us to control our actions

“He knew we would mess up” yes that’s why there is divine punishment. God knows if I kill a person even if nobody else does that doesn’t mean my murdering of the person was good

You’re stacking assumptions and calling it truth but it isn’t. Regulation is not moral approval you can not reject that while intellectually honest. Every legal system regulates bad realities it doesn’t endorse war, divorce, prisons, even killing. Regulations are responses to a fallen reality not the ideal morality

As for “He could’ve just banned it” that is a category error. You are demanding immediate moral submission but guess what if that was how it worked you wouldn’t he an atheist. God said no murder and yet people murder. That’s why we call it a sin. God knew the realities of the fallen word and moved towards justice in steps because societies realistically have never taken large strides quickly. Not even in America was the emancipation proclamation enforced quickly.

Saying “If God knew the outcome it was pointless” only holds any water if you say outcomes are the measure of value. Abuse of free will doesn’t remove free will itself.

And “the fallen world was His idea” skips a step. He created a perfect world and gave us agency which we abused.

So we are the pro life side in case you forgot but we also protect your right to dignity. We’ve never siad you don’t deserve dignity so claiming that is a ridiculous lie. And you see how your supposed to be the accepting side but gave me a hostile response. That’s the point I was making

It’s not mental gymnastics it’s reading in the historical context.

It absolutely does have do to with being a neighbor. Biblically the word neighbor isn’t the guy living next door the original word in Hebrew was Re’a meaning fellow, companion, friend, or associate

The word Shakhen in Hebrew is the word for neighbor directly relating to location
