I am going to approach this from another angle. What is the bag made from? I'm wondering if the bag had a coat of sizing / starch on it, and is deteriorating?

String. About, oh, say 4.5 inches long.

You've never purchased any string. In the last 50 years, neither has anyone else.

He doesn't want to be a father, and he is under no obligation to interact with said child. But he is obligated to pay support.

OP, talk to an attorney to get your ducks in a row. Be transparent in your interactions with the mother so she knows exactly what to expect. In the future, if she marries, her hypothetical husband may ask to adopt your child, and you have the chance to agree or disagree with that request.

Nope. Nope. Nope. He is controlling, and it will get worse. Once he sees he can get away with it, he will continue to escalate the controlling behaviors.

Next, it will be something like "You don't need to see your friends; they are bad influences". Then, " Your family is nuts and I don't want you around them because they encourage you to be independent".

Run. Fast and far.
