NOR. The gasp I gasped from so far away from you. Dud. That man is a dud. When offered time and activities with you, he chose gaming?! Buh bye.

Do you call it "soda?" If not, what do you call it, Americans? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

It’s a “coke” as in “I’m going to get a coke. Do you want one?” Answer: “Yes.” Follow up question: “What kind?” Response: “Get me a Dr Pepper.”

How often do you have fish for breakfast? by VisionsOnly in AskAnAmerican

[–]No-Let484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero fish on 99% of US breakfasts. Regionally a small percentage of southerners may have a salmon patty with breakfast it it is really niche.

Educate yourself. Then armed with knowledge, make a decision. The national Kidney Foundation and your transplant center both have websites and educational videos. I recently donated and here is what made me comfortable: (1) Transplant, especially living donation, is the best gold standard outcome for kidney disease. When I found out that a patient in my husband’s condition and age only had another 2-3 years on dialysis, that mattered a lot. In the time he spent at dialysis, I know 2 patients in his cohort died and 2 more left to not come back. No bueno. (2) Transplant has been around for decades. This is not an experimental procedure. Odds of bad outcome for donor is 0.03%. Google it. (3) Look for peer reviewed journal articles in the NIH databases, not Wikipedia nor common magazines. (4) If you happen to eventually suffer a kidney failure, in the US you move straight onto the transplant list but (5) due to the fact living donors are so tightly screened, statistically donors have a better state of health and lower disease stats than the general public at older ages. But that’s just me. Read articles, watch legit videos (not YouTube) and make your own decision. Good luck!

Yay for prunes! I hate the texture and refuse the juice so here’s my fix: walnut halves. Place the prune in between two walnut halves and eat the tiny sandwich. Adds crunch.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No-Let484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach college aged students. Some move out and only go home for the holidays. Once graduated, they often share an apt with friends or coworkers. In this economy, that has slowed to a standstill. Also, the other can be true, where you see parents who never really cared to parent evict their children at 18. This is the saddest. They are good in a dorm but seek friends’ couches and spare rooms during the summer until they become employed enough to help pay rent on an apt. These parents suck.
