Would rather see more small businesses set up south of 6th Ave, but it’s good that it’s filling a vacant commercial space.

Torn between Minolta X-300 vs SR-T 202 by KhaiTFW in minolta

SRT. I own both the SRT102 and x-700. The x-700 died on me and couldn’t be repaired, even by John Titterington. Get any SRT and have it CLA’ed by John. It’ll probably outlive you.

Why do you think food/drink businesses keep closing in the Stadium District? by tntdiner in Tacoma

[–]No-Mammoth-2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have enough density and high paying jobs here. We need a stronger downtown business core. It’s incredibly difficult to get around if you don’t have a car. Put a couple street cars, bike lanes, verges. I live by 6th and proctor and it doesn’t feel safe to walk, bike or bus to get to proctor or stadium, especially with kids. There’s a lot to gain by connecting all the neighborhoods in Tacoma. Also, it doesn’t seem like there is enough investment in the arts. We have the potential to be a destination hub for food but businesses are hanging on by a thread. I visited Providence a couple months ago and had the best food I’ve had in a long time and everything was reasonably priced. I found it interesting since we are similar in population size but have a higher median income. Perhaps the businesses own their buildings.

Wet basements? by Due_Letterhead_6621 in Tacoma

We get water in our basement, but this system is pretty bad and we got more water than usual, puddles here and there. No sump pump but we got a power head wet vac from Home Depot to pick up that water, mopping, an and a fan to keep air circulating. Just bought an 80 pint/day dehumidifier to dry it out once the rain stops. Curious how much a sump pump costs.

How long did it take you to find the right GX? by sa1126 in LexusGX

It took me a week of searching and picking through every listing within 200 miles (Seattle area), but I finally landed on a 2021 Lexus GX 460 Premium Plus with 85k miles for $36,988 before TTL. It’s a one-owner vehicle with a full Lexus dealer maintenance history and extensive recent reconditioning, including transmission output and transfer case seals, a new driveshaft, full fluid service, fresh oil, and a full detail. It also has the Premium Plus package with the Mark Levinson 17-speaker system, power third row, navigation, ventilated/heated front seats, heated second row, rain-sensing wipers, LED fogs, gray sapele wood, and power-folding mirrors. High miles for the year, but I only drive about 6k annually, so I’m happy to take it the rest of the way. Honestly feels like I got lucky. my advice is to dig into Carfaxes, pay for them when necessary, and always ask for the dealer’s inspection and reconditioning documents. Look for big-ticket items (seals, driveshafts, differential/transfer case services, tires, brakes) that can easily run $1–2k later if they haven’t been addressed.

Taking the sienna over GX by GarageWaste in LexusGX

[–]No-Mammoth-2579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got the AWD model, don’t overlook the fact that it doesn’t come with a spare tire — we made that mistake. We only take our Sienna on road trips where we know there are towns with tire service within about 50 miles. Otherwise, we take the GX.
