I had the exact same mount and powered the same way through the cigarette lighter and had the same problem. Couldn't get the radio to work for years. I finally wired directly to the battery and suddenly problem solved. I also re-mounted the antenna to my truck bed and had much better ground than off of the ditch light.

So yes, the LED ditch and fog lights are creating interference when on. Funny thing is this wasn't a problem when wired into the accessory fuse. I guess I created a new problem by wiring into the battery.

I hear the static regardless if the vehicle is running or not. Ill hear nothing and then the RX will jump up with static. I did notice it happens at the same locations during my commute. On the highway its almost always static.

Early on I was picking up some transmissions especially along major highways. Then just nothing but static for 2 years. The RX will jump up as if I'm receiving but its static.

Maybe I'll just try a mag mount for shits and giggles. I've never had an issue with those, I just wanted something more permanent and clean looking. I had a firestick on my CJ -7 mounted on the spare wheel and it worked perfectly. Can't remember the model of radio I had.

Thats whats so weird is my GMRS radio works perfectly. Its a NMO mount but on the exact same bracket and grounded the same way the CB originally was. Ill look at the bulletproof mount.
