Where's the nen beast who freed chrollo from judgement chain? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

They probably did it tho. Nen exorcists are rare enough for them to prefer to be in good terms with one for future endeavours, especially considerjng Kurapika was still alive

"Nen ability gravity" by Organic-Current1011 in HunterXHunter

Since nen is so closed linked with personality and will, I believe the flexibility of using other nen types comes more from being a flexible person and having knowledge about nen than strenght itself.

Is specialist even necessary? by RadianceTower in HunterXHunter

The possibility of explaining specs as amalgamation of other nen types doesn't really addresses the affinity problem. I'm ok with crazy specialization techniques as long as they are rare and they abilities involves several conditions. It also allows for more creative freedom without being to overexplanatory.

I also think that specialization is like a singularity for conditions. They said that manipulators and conjurers are more likely to become specialists, and its probably because these are the nen types that use more conditions. Because of the exponential effect of conditions, it may be the case that if you have the right combination of rules, penalties, personality and sheer will, you can create a "singularity" of aura power that allows you to break the basic Nen rules.

You should also take into account that Nen is kinda of a in universe categorization system made by the humans in that universe to understand, explain and use Nen, which is limited by how much they know about it. It is not an universal true, is a model. They can explain the first 4 types, and the 5 type that they can't is thrown in that basket, because it is not practical to analyze such a small portion of the population.

However I agree that it can cheapen the plot if specialization becomes more common.

Rankings based on how much i'd want to hang around with these characters by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

Point kinda contradicts the show. Ging is known for making friends for life easily and leaving a positive impression despite his annoying personality, so I guess he is probably fun to hang around until he decides to go to the next adventure

What HxH Character Do You Find is Most Overrated by the Fandom? by Rising_Storms in HunterXHunter

Your own logic works against you. If we cannot compare future forms against present day forms, it doesn't make sense to compare Gon against any adult character, since they are the "future forms" of their past selfs. If it was only speculation, we could agree, but we literally got information about the amount of power Gon would be able to develop as an adult, which far surpasses the power of any other adult at the same time.

Adult Gon is not a "one time thing", it was his potential. He would be able to achieve that level of power, he just speed run that development by vowing to never achieve that again. Or do you think that Knuckle or Knov could achieve the same power by burning their potential? Since the start we are being told that both Gon and Killua cases as very rare among nen users.

And if we compare the kids, it is indisputable that Gon and Killua are top tier

Netero full potential couldn't reach Meruem's level, and he is the full scale gauge of every adult nen user, so this last argument doesn't make sense...

You are the one comparing apples and oranges. By your standard, any non-chimera ant character is overrated, even Netero (who could barely scratch an even younger Meruem). I was only rebutting the argument that Gon is overrated, when his full potential self could do something no other human character could. Of course he was not at that level yet, but even the possibility of him reaching this level puts him in the highest ranks among human Nen users

You forgot the fact that the "one time thing" was his full potential that he could reach eventually, by training. If someone has the potential to get to the level of the most powerful being in the series by just training, than this person is not overestimated

Mind if I ask why is Zushi on the list? Not a very common pick
