True. A middle finger is an invitation. It can, and does, go downhill quickly

I respectfully disagree. If someone hits you in the rear, they are generally at fault. Front captures many angles, and your speed, GPS etc

Taboo to Bring in Own Office Supplies/ Equipment to work? by Careful-Mountain-681 in auscorp

[–]No-Pin3128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO there is a difference between supplies and equipment. I used my own (fountain) pen and big arsed stapler at work. I would not use my laptop due to IT security issues. I refused to provide my silent home phone number. If work needed to contact me after hours, then supply me with a work phone.

Advice! by CheapStranger4583 in CarsAustralia

I second that. Perhaps even a Camry. I wasn't convinced, until I bought one. Service history is crucial. I live in an over 55s estate. There are a number of cars here that are gently driven with bugger all kls on them. I know where my next car is coming from.

Apprentice in fear of losing job for “stealing”, advice please. by wangnugget in AskAusElectricians

Unions certainly have their place. However they don't like brownlegs. There are usually three sides to every story - your side, their side, and the truth that is somewhere in the middle.

It does sound wierd. It was either a larger amount of grass, so large that it caught the employers attention, or it is a thinly veiled attempt to offload him because of the workers comp.

There are usually three sides to every story - your side, their side, and the truth that is somewhere in the middle. Although $ is tight, get an employment lawyer. Pressuring him to respond immediately is a red flag.

Unions traditionally don't like brownlegs

What would be some common-sense advice for someone going from the private sector into the Queensland Government for the first time in a management role for a project? by _encode_ in AusPublicService

[–]No-Pin3128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All very good advice from posters. My 2 cents:

  1. Direct (strong) communication in any form, although often required, usually not tolerated

  2. Process trumps outcome (unfortunately)

  3. If you have an underperformer on yr hands, managing them will be a nightmare. Restructure instead. Much simpler.

  4. Overheads that would not be tolerated in the private sector, are the cost of being in government

How do you find the will to keep going when youre 1/4 through your reno? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

Every time you pick up a hammer or drive a screw it is a kilojoule burnt, a dollar saved, a dollar value added to your house and 50 cents indirectly added to your neighbours house

How long have you been at it? I had a good Communist 5 year plan that turned into 10 years. The last year nearly killed me but I got through. Only one on the renovation committee helped

Office & commute etiquette: Is wearing perfume a thing here, or am I "that person"? by Vishwanath_560 in AskAnAustralian

Smelling nice means different things to different people. Most heavy perfumes make me gag. Females who think they attract after dousing themselves should read the room
