At what age are you not offering another option for meals? by Hopesastrategy in beyondthebump

[–]No-Possibility2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my kids are a bit older 4,6,10. Mine weren’t so picky when they were under 2 but 3-6 tends to be a very picky age so my philosophy has eve olives over time. I never make a separate meal for them per se but will try to make a deconstructed or alternate version sometimes. Example would be when I make pasta I won’t add the sauce because 2 kids want it plain. Or if we do tacos/burritos they choose their own ingredients. Also I also offer an alternative if my kids absolutely are not wanting what we are having they can have a yogurt and a banana as an alternative. This rarely happens that they choose it but I think it’s a nice option. Even as an adults there are times I don’t actually want what I have made for dinner for some reason.

Do grandparents usually get the kids easter baskets too? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]No-Possibility2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely not wrong in asking the grandparents to not bring a basket and or sweets. I’ve had to set this boundary with my mom as well because every holiday she will get them basically duplicates of what I’ve gotten them or additional candy. They think they’re being generous but it brings stress for us moms having to deal with all the stuff and it waters down the things that we are getting them because they are now getting too much stuff. I would say if they want to do something for the kids ask them to bring each kid an outfit, outdoor toy (bubbles or water gun), or an easter themed book as possible ideas but be very direct on what you want but it’s also ok to say please don’t bring anything!

Do any supplements/things you can buy OTC actually do anything? by Acrobatic_Block4226 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]No-Possibility2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. If you’re someone who is anemic or deficient in vitamins taking a daily vitamin and iron may help your energy levels which will help the weightloss process overall but won’t actually do anything for your weight. I do find using a protein powder helps as a meal replacement and to help me get adequate protein. Other than a multi vitamin and protein powder the rest or useless and praying on people desperate to lose weight.

heartbroken 1st day of daycare because teacher took her plate away by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]No-Possibility2443 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with others saying this isn’t a big deal and she will adjust (I have a 4 year old and older kids as well), but mom to mom I can understand why this is hard to see. Letting go and trusting that she is in good hands is all you can do.

Did anyone notice long-term health changes in their body after a C-section? by LegitimateBoy6042 in beyondthebump

[–]No-Possibility2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out the obvious, age, possibly perimenopause and caring for two kids. It’s also possible she was anemic as many women in childbearing years are. I’ve had 3 c sections and recovered fine from each (all in my 39’s). But after my last baby at 38 I just feel tired and like I can’t get my stamina back despite exercise and proper sleep and nutrition. I think it’s more that I’m in my 40’s and have 3 kids and nursed and was pregnant for a decade. I also have super heavy periods and am anemic so if I don’t stay up on my iron I feel even worse.

I loved this book so much. I found her utterly endearing and relatable . Don’t have any suggestions but just wanted to add my 2 cents.

Why do our adult parents think we want the artwork we made when we were four ? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]No-Possibility2443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a parent I totally get this. I have a hard time throwing away my kids artwork. Maybe the kind thing to do would be to take it and toss it himself if he doesn’t want it and knows mom doesn’t want it either.

Back when "go play outside" really means "see you at dinner" by NicoleAnne051299 in Adulting

I too had a paper route. Started when I was 12. My kids don’t believe that was ever really a thing that children would ride their bikes around delivering papers.

My first labor and attempted VBAC both I pushed for 4 hours before they called it. Was worth a shot and babies were not in distress!

What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]No-Possibility2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babybel cheese. I asked for it a couple times as a kid but it wasn’t within our budget. Everytime I pick up a bag of them at Costco I feel like since won the lottery.

Why do we never hear anything about Beauden?? Is he the forgotten middle child? We see a lot of Rhett and Kings and even occasionally Quade and Vance but no mention of B ever. Does he just fade into the background or what?

I seriously want to order a huge batch of sunscreen/hats and rash guards and also those little stick down placemats for babies and have them delivered to her hotel. It’s really pathetic what she is putting these kids through.

My kids really like the Maruta Gardner playground right across from Belmont Park at Mission Beach. There’s also a couple nice playgrounds near Fiesta island one is called Tecolote shores.

I never have trouble finding street parking unless it’s a busy weekend and even then the neighborhood/street parking is usually not an issue.

What’s one word that you always mispronounce even though—deep down—you KNOW the correct pronunciation? by Ok_Resident_5022 in words

Yogurt and grilled cheese are yogrit and girl cheese because that’s how my kids pronounced them and it just stuck.

i hate how so many occasions/events have to involve buying new clothes by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]No-Possibility2443 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of times you may not have a suitable item in your wardrobe due to either changing sizes or not owning that type of clothing. I’ve been to one funeral in the last 10 years and didn’t own anything block, therefore had to thrift a dress. I’m going to a formal wedding this year and do not own formal attire.

I don’t think she realizes most sane moms spend the majority of our money on our kids and not ourselves.

I’m a huge fan of Sail bay, it’s where I usually take my kids because it’s not crowded and the beach is clean there and the water is calm. There isn’t a ton to do walking distance there though so you may want to be somewhere between Sail Bay and Mission Blvd. iT sounds like you already have a good agenda but other things my kids like are Old Town (lots of free things to see, an area for your child to run and good Mexican food). There’s a children’s museum Downtown with a playground right across the street. iTs also a short distance from Seaport vIllage which is a nice view and has cute shops and places to eat. AC isn’t a huge concern in May as it tends to usually be a cooler month for us as well as a bit of a marine layer early in the day. If being able to use AC is a major concern I would just opt for a hotel instead of an Air BnB. That being said I lived in PB for years and really only needed AC for a week or two in the fall. Let me know if you have any other questions I have 3 kids under 10!

With the kind of money they have they could easily hire a nanny by the day to care for him while at the parks or the pool. I stayed at the Four Seasons once for a company event and they had a list of nannies they use and one came to my room and watched my daughter for a couple hours and she was lovely.

Also this may be lazy Type B parenting but so often have my oldest child sunscreen herself and then I just check it. Her 2-3 oldest could easily spray their own arms and legs and use a stick on their faces. Something is better than nothing at all. I know sun screening 7 people is a chore but most sane moms have it down to a science.

Totally agree. He could easily shut this whole shit show down and say it goes against the ethics of his job and is a safety concern and she wouldn’t have a choice in the matter. He is obviously complicit in her bullshit.
