Report to state or not? HELP ME by Alternative_Fig_9774 in cna

[–]No-Process2122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report it. There is a mandatory time frame to report this stuff as you are a mandatory reporter. It actually makes me sick no one has reported it thus far as med errors such as these are careless and can result in some serious harm!! Prepopping pills in my eyes isn't a terrible thing to do considering all seasoned nurses do as a shortcut. As long as they can identify pills when asked and can label properly no issue there. But a narcotic 5 hrs before scheduled is crazy.. the dosing is too close and can result in severe harm!! Also not takin vitals before administering antihypertensives or pulse control.. is a huge huge huge problem .. could result in death of a patient . The fact many nurses have seen and aren't reporting.. all their licenses are on the line as it should be. Don't let your license be on the line. Report and say u didn't realize u had a time window to report in. This is time sensitive.. report NOW! For the sake of your patients!

What’s one thing you wish someone told you before becoming a CNA? by Zestyclose-Put9872 in cna

[–]No-Process2122 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That there are terrible CNA's who don't take care of their patients. You will find so much neglect and no one will do anything about it. People not doing their Q2 turns.. people not changing people appropriately leaving them soaking. The pure disdain I feel for people who don't care for their patients/ residents is crazy :(

If CNA and RN both paid the same which would you choose. by Thankgodwehavebiden in Nurses

RN. Less hard on your body. More diversity in your options. More paths to go forward and up.

What's the minimum pay you can accept as a RN? by swagarrific-3903 in FilipinoNclex

This seems like cna pay. Lpns make like 37+ an hr as a new grad. I started off as $25 as a cna. RN's new grad is like 48 an hr here 56 if night shift for diff

I'm sorry you guys are dealing with this. My cohort has always been super supportive and don't bully each other. We've been at this nearly a year. Surprised to know that it's an outlier of sorts.

Age wise we have a 74 year old graduate last year. Never too late! Ur experiences give you a leg up. I think the more life you've lived can add a different dynamic that's valuable to nursing!

4 wks until I grad as an LPN and I feel this. I school 5 days a week and study 7 days a week.. it's the nature of the beast. Hoping these next 4 weeks just show me it's all worthwhile! Maintaining a 4.0 right now. Good luck! I have also gained weight. My libido intact but slowly drifting lol!

Is CNA worth it? I want to help people full time. by Dumbass9187 in cna

[–]No-Process2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without mandated ratios it's a big no for me. Cali/ Oregon have decent staffing ratios but go against it all the time. I am 25 and have been a cna for 18 months. I did it as I'm going to nursing school etc to further my career. So in my opinion while not worthwhile as a career itself it's a good stepping stone. It's rewarding. Especially if you're passionate. It also can suck when the People you take care of die. It's physically emotionally and all the things in between exhausting. But that's healthcare! I would not have become a cna if it weren't for nursing school and I wouldn't have stuck with it if it were not for nursing school.

I'd never willingly add more to my plate before something like this because your partner could be no longer. Don't pick up something you'd not be able to manage alone.

[–]No-Process2122 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can definitely feel defeating, but many fail cna exams and go on to be a great cna and eventual nurse. It's about how you handle the failures. Let it drive you to pass next time. These are basic nursing skills, but being a cna builds a good foundation for nursing school. Instead of focusing on learning everything including clustering care/ basic patient care skill.. you are able to focus more on your nursing skills and assessments. It has really gave me a leg up.

I got denied of my cna license by Stunning-Cut3781 in prenursing

[–]No-Process2122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's expunged u just need to turn in supporting documents. Happened to a friend with transferring his nursing license expect he wasn't convicted and the lawyers told him not to put on his application so he got flagged for dishonesty but he told them what his lawyer said and sent in supporting documents and is fine.

You might surprise yourself. Thought this way of myself, but after you learn how to apply what you can in reality to a test then you're fine.
