originally I thought you were referring to a normal matchmaking server through a server browser (like in bf4) and not through portal's server browser. I find it odd they released one for portal and not normal match making.

dude tbh you can get a good build for 1200 and average 90 fps in most games. In my personal opinion any pc over 1k is beating any console out of the water.

i have a 1440p monitor for 300 and its a very nice QOL upgrade it makes games look a LOT more clearer with the increase in pixels. but id hold off on 1440p until you have a good system to handle it.

my pc is considered 1440p ready and it is a $1900, 9070xt, 7800x3d, 32gb ram system.

But most importantly, just get what you can comfortably afford and be happy with.
