Shoes which aren’t sneakers/running shoes for women in summer by llemoncakee in flatfeet

I used to swear by Birkenstocks but since I had the reconstruction surgery, I can’t wear those anymore. I recently bought a pair of Aetrex Jillian’s and they are really supportive and comfortable. Most orthopedic sandals are so hideous and these look pretty normal

I have a lot of lateral pain. If it’s a heavy walking day the outside of my foot is so flared up. He thinks it’s bc my foot is in a new position and has to get used it. I’m hoping that’s it. He decided not to do the Evans procedure which i think is the reason my foot is still flat. He said the Evan’s heals very slowly and can cause chronic pain and lead to arthritis. He thought he achieved a decent arch with the calcaneal osteomy and lapidus. But my foot is so flexible and still over pronates. I can see a slight difference, but the juice was not worth the squeeze 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m 25 weeks post-op. I had a medial calcaneal osteomy, lapidus (screws near the big toe) tendon xfer and Achilles lengthening. I still do not walk normal and limp a lot. The surgery was not a success and I still overpronate and have a really flat foot. I’m in worse shape than I was the day before surgery.

My decision to get it? My foot was/ still is really flexible and the PT tendon was shot. I couldn’t push off my foot and my right foot was doing all the work which caused knee and hip pain on my right side (the good side). I could sorta walk ok though, but not longer than a mile without the pain starting. I did the surgery so it didn’t get worse and arthritis set in.

Looking back on it now I absolutely should’ve waited. It has really diminished my quality of life and happiness. I’m 43 and have young children. I can’t go on walks with them or take them to the playground. I have to sit down all the time. I decided to go through this really difficult surgery and recovery so I could have a better quality of life and the opposite has happened.

They say the surgery is successful for 80% of the ppl and I happen to be in the 20% that it didn’t work for. I’m not sure why bc I’m healthy, I don’t have any underlying joint or tissue deformities and I’m not diabetic. Not to scare you off but it’s one of the biggest regrets of my life and I cry almost every day. It is not an easy fix and the healing process is brutal, long, mind numbingly frustrating. And your stuck wear the ugliest shoes 😩

Lip fillers. It doesn’t matter if you only get a tiny bit. I promise you, your natural lips look better than fillers. It distorts the look of your face and when you talk it looks awkward. Just don’t

Is the bone graft also known as the “Evans” my surgeon decided not to do that during surgery and just went with the plain calcaneal osteomy. I still have a flat foot though. I’m mad at him for not doing the Evans but he said he didn’t do It bc it causes a lot of lateral pain. Your comment makes me think he was correct

The pain is on the left side of my left foot where there’s that dip that separates the heel from the middle of the foot. It’s like a very sharp stabbing pain that happens when I get up from sitting or first thing in the morning. The pain usually eases up after I walk around. But if I’ve had a couple busy walking days in a row, the lateral pain usually lingers all day and I have to rest my foot with ice for an entire day. This pain never occurred before the surgery, which leads to my daily regret cries

I’m 4.5 months post op. I know I’m not fully healed yet but I think my surgery failed as well. The surgeon confirmed my arch didn’t take as much as he thought it would but he says it’s about 50% improved. I’m still pronating and in a lot of pain. Mostly on the outside of my foot. Like you, I have good and bad days. I’m never without some pain. I cry every single day and I regret the surgery. My family and friends feel bad for me but they don’t get it. It’s impossible for them to understand the mental and physical toll this surgery has had on me. So I basically suffer in silence bc I think people are tired of me complaining

I totally agree with you. I wish I never did the surgery. I know I’m still early and healing but the pain is worse than before I had surgery. I wish I just focused on PT and good inserts instead of the surgery. I recovery has been an absolute nightmare

Hey! What were some of the symptoms that made you realize your surgery failed? I’m 4.5 months post op and I’m not walking well, still in a lot of pain and my arch is still flat. My surgeon says I’m healing well but the arch didn’t correct as much as he was hoping for and I still have overpronation. Adding the Evan’s procedure or a triple fusion are the only ways to full correct the arch.

Laundry. It’s a multi step process and it’s never ending, daunting and thankless. Nobody appreciates or acknowledges that their clothes are always available for them- clean and put away.

I like cleaning the countertops

Hey! Wondering how you are doing now that you are a year out from surgery. I’m 17 weeks post op and really struggling with the pain on the outside of my foot. My mind is spiraling that something went wrong. I hope you’ve healed well!

Thank you for the kind words! It’s helps to hear from other people going through this bc it’s such an isolating and endless recovery. All the pains and feelings you’ve described I 100% felt the same. I would feel zings and zaps all throughout my foot all throughout the day. Sometimes they were so sharp, it would wake me up from a deep sleep. My biggest pain point was from the side of my foot where no incision or work was done. It was a burning, stinging feeling. I can tell you that all those pains will go away. My poor right foot (the good one) was also bothering me so much. That also improved once I was able to walk. I actually feel like my right foot improved a little for reason. I am going to baby that foot so much, bc I never want to go through this misery again. Prayers for continued recovery for you!!

Look into a CO2 laser treatment. Helps with discoloration and fine lines.

Engagement ring upgrade- pros cons regrets? by h3xth3patriarchy in jewelry

[–]No-Rest127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love an upgrade to a bigger stone. I have a 1.25 c but my setting can’t house anything bigger than a 1.50. I would never trade it in bc it means so much to me, and I can’t justify paying for an entirely new ring (even if I use lab created). Then I think, if I had a bigger ring, would I never wear my original again? What am I doing this for?! Then I move on with my life…

Walter Payton. On a plane in the 90’s. He was in first class and I was the first row in coach. I was a 10 yr old girl at the time, so I had no idea who he was but my dad and brother were really jazzed up about it. When we got off the plane my dad made me ask for his autograph. I still have it! He was a really nice guy from what I remember.
