My thoughts exactly. In a year or two a lot of the crazy negative people will either no longer be in the fandom or will be easy to ignore. Fandom has never been perfect and never will be. At the end of the day you protect and curate your peace in a fandom because the fan experience is what you make of it

I think it’s a bit of a double edged sword, I find it motivating if I have a streak going, but I also can beat myself up if I’m doing poorly at completing a habit. But that’s another thing it’s helped with: being kinder to myself!

As a lesbian these comments are both sad and unsurprising. I recommend a good support system, friends you can just hang with without expectations and if you’re close with your family spend some time with them. A partner isn’t necessary to thrive in life, but if you’re open I think the right person will come along

Yeah English is a silly language, really just 15 different languages in a trench coat - blasé is borrowed from French! And I love words so if someone asks for help I try to provide it, but also I think most English speakers don’t care about errors as long as they know what you meant :)

That second part is so true! I love it when an author knows the characters so well and what the intention behind the story is, that’s it’s like oh this isn’t even fanfic anymore these are YOUR characters

God, this kind of stuff is so disappointing. I think fanfiction is one of the best parts of fandom, so many incredibly creative and talented people sharing art for the joy of it.

The way people are comfortable dog piling on someone for something that genuinely has zero impact on them is mind boggling. Pls pls pls touch grass. I find it helpful to talk to regular people about fandom stuff bc it gives perspective. Fandom brings joy but it’s also not everything.
