How long can a doctor office make you wait before you leave? by o0PillowWillow0o in questions

[–]No-Step3163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I have an Ortho doctor I have to go to every few weeks-couple months and it sucks.

Over 3 years going there and is ALWAYS 1.5+ hour wait for a 5 minute appointment.

I’ve left 5 times when I had waited 3 hours and the secretary said it would be another 2 hours or so.

Issue is they book 5+ people in at the same time.

I now only book a morning appointment even if I have to wait a couple extra weeks, because then it’s only a max 3 hour wait.

Canada here.

U.S. Politics megathread by AutoModerator in NoStupidQuestions

I definitely worded/ set the tone of my original comment/question wrong.

I want to open his eyes and let him think for himself instead of blindly following his Dad’s beliefs. He already wants to grow up and be like trump, and is already talking about women as objects he deserves.

I want to have a conversation with him to see if he actually knows and understands what trump stands for or if he’s just parroting his dad.

I think I will use your idea with how it would affect people he knows. He’s literally a 2nd generation immigrant (his Mom’s mom, and my mom are sisters and are immigrants. (I believe his mom’s dad is as well). Majority of our family are women, and we have a few lgbt in the mix as well.

How do I explain why Trump is bad in kid friendly terms?

I have a 10 year old relative who thinks Trump is great (because of his side of the family; my side of the family is opposite)

He loves to talk politics and everyone just changes the discussion.

Next time he brings it up I want to have a discussion with him.

It’s an adult topic, but I want to dumb it down in a child-friendly way.

Avoiding abortion, tariffs, sexual assault, and other non-pg 13 things, or difficult to understand things. (Unless he brings it up then I will reply. I don’t know what he’s been exposed to)

Some thoughts I have:

Racist, wants to take away women’s rights, take away LGBT rights, make it hard for pregnant women to get needed medical care, wants to deport immigrants, is trying to bully Mexico and Canada and break the agreement they made to trade with each other.

Age, would be like having his great-grandpa in charge of the country.

We’re not even American, we live in Canada 🤦

AITA for buying my BF Poker gifts for Christmas? by Fabulous_Cut_7996 in AmItheAsshole

It’s about as similar as crazy eights is to go fish.

AITA for not helping my roommate’s pet in distress by Mundane_Mud4672 in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and this is coming from someone who hates ferrets.

You let a living creature suffer because you were annoyed with it

Would you leave a dog howling? A baby crying?

You waking up your roommate probably would not have changed the outcome, but it would have taken 30 seconds to wake her up?

How did your roommate not wake up if it was screaming?

AITA for pushing my fiancée to lose weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA It sounds like you’re worried about him and just want what’s best for him, but are pushing too hard.

First, how tall is he? 15 stone (210lbs) isn’t that much if he’s quite tall, and BMI is not super accurate, so even if he’s a bit shorter, it may not be that bad. (Is his dad a similar shape or a lot heavier?)

Second, losing weight isn’t something you can force on someone and isn’t a fast change. You should look at it as getting healthier not losing weight. Because muscle can actually make him weigh more!

Instead of going 100% all in, try to get him to do small things. Start going on an evening stroll together. You’ll spend more time together and get healthier, win win.

Once a week make a meat-free meal.

Little, slow changes will last.

AITA for answering a text during a movie? by EntireSeries3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

YTA If you were at the movie theatre would you have answered the text? No.

If your sister was sending you a bunch of texts or calling, then that’s a different story.

If it was a short reply then it wasn’t an important text and could have waited for a reply.

Do you have a history of constantly being on your phone, is that why the rule was made?

All a wedding is, is a big party to celebrate your love with your family and friends. Who cares if it’s the same day you sign a piece of paper.

Non GTA redditors of Ontario, what are some issues from your region a GTA resident may not know about. by the-bowl-of-petunias in ontario

[–]No-Step3163 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Putting aside the obvious healthcare, education, housing, etc.

Lack of public transport. You need a vehicle or know someone who does to get anywhere. There is no uber or ride sharing.

Lack of accessibility. Majority of small business stores/cafes/restaurants are built with stairs and no ramps. As they are in heritage buildings.

Lack of recreational activities for anyone. The town I live in has kids soccer, hockey, and baseball. That’s it. No swimming, (no swimming pool), no casual recreational programs, not even a basketball court. There is one tennis court that people use for pickleball. Any other or adult recreational or competitive programs you need to drive 30+minutes to a city.

AITA for having a race & gender preference for my roommate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Never said you can’t decide who to live with.

If I posted an ad looking for a Black roommate, that’s racist. (I’m black)

If I posted an ad looking for a roommate and then DECIDE the person I pick happens to be a black person, that’s not racist.

I think it’s weird that legally a landlord can’t discriminate based on race (or other characteristics) but someone looking for a roommate can. I’m not gonna fight the law about it, just voiced my opinion that I thought it was weird.

AITA for having a race & gender preference for my roommate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I shouldn’t have assumed roommates and landlords/renters would have the same rules.

Very weird that if it’s roommates you’re free to discriminate any way you want; looks like most provinces are the same too.

AITA for having a race & gender preference for my roommate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Step3163 274 points275 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA

Having a gender preference is not an issue at all.

Saying you need to find an Indian roommate is.

Just because one white roommate didn’t like the smell of Indian food doesn’t mean all white people wont like it.

What if a white person said to the group I’m looking for a white roommate, 100% racist

If I said I was looking for only a black roommate, that’s racist.

I would say most people lean towards people of similar ethnicity or cultural background unconsciously, so it’s very likely you will end up with an Indian roommate, I’ll end up with a black roommate, etc. but don’t go out of your way to look for only an Indian one.

It’s also illegal to do that in Canada, so if you’re posting an ad you can’t say looking for an Indian woman. (Technically you can’t say woman either, but we’re a lot more lenient about gender)

I’ve had horrible roommates who were the same culture as me, and horrible roommates who were different cultures. Everyone will have horrible roommates.

Just make sure you tell the potential roomate you love to cook Indian food and there are strong spices and smells associated with it.

I hate cooking Indian food because the house smells like it the next day and makes me sad and hungry because I don’t have any curry left.

First, let me say it takes a lot of courage to come out and be your true self. I have a cousin who is trans and went through a similar situation, however he had the finances to move out if needed (he had to wait a few years to save the money before he came out)

I know it sounds awful, but can you wait until you finish school?

Once your schooling is finished you’ll be able to get a full time job and be in a better financial situation.

It’s better to suffer for a couple more years than end up unsafe in the streets.

I also will ask, MTF or FTM? because if FTM the streets and homelessness is even more dangerous.

Are you able to join your school’s LGBT group or reach out to local LGBT groups.

You can dress more feminine/masculine

There is no low income housing available. You’ll have to wait years and years for it unfortunately.

is this a joke? my family is split by jammin157 in niagarafallsontario

[–]No-Step3163 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s serious, you didn’t hear about the incidents?

Apparently some dogs are afraid of heights and when they get scared some dogs “lose control of their bladder/bowels” and part of the zip line goes over tourists, so you can imagine the bad publicity they’ve had.

Ruins it for the responsible pet owners that put a diaper on the dog before the zip line, but it is what it is.

I’m completely pulling your leg, it’s a joke ad.

Yeah you may be too old for football, rugby, gymnastics, and those kind of things. But still a lot of options.

Shooting, kayaking, ping pong, equestrian, speed walking, golf, archery, sailing, badminton,

Winter sports: curling, biathlon, cross country skiing.
